Looks like Palm. Red palm.

he is correct...that is red palm.

Thanks. I’ve seen picture of red Palm and remember a Durbin cue at the Expo that I almost bought years ago that looked much different so I would have never thought this was red palm.

Most woods look different until they are wet or cleared over.

I'd be near 100% certain it's a grainy piece of ipe. Very common wood in old house cues, especially Valley. The tiny bit of uncertainty I do have lends to cumaru, also pretty common in house cues.

The end grain leads me away from Ipe...Cumaru ?

I'm prettt sure it's not red palm.
Wenge kinda looks like the piece you have.

It IS from an older valley house cue. After seeing these posts I think it’s Cumaru. It doesn’t feel heavy enough to be Ipe.
