WOOD STABILIZING SERVICE NOW AVAILABLE
I have been stabilizing my own wood for some time now and have decided, after several requests, to stabilize other cue makers wood. Currently, the fee for this service is $1.25 per linear inch for 1 1/2" squares. Round stock is
also charged at the 1 1/2" square price. If your wood already has a core hole it is also charged as round stock. Partial inches are charged at 1/2" increments rounded up to the nearest 1/2 inch. As an example a turning square that is 12 3/8" long is charged as 12 1/2 linear inches. A square that is 4 3/4" long is charges as 5".
I usually ship by USPS Priority Mail as it the cheapest way for this type of material. Once I have stabilized and weighed your wood I will let you know what the postage charges are. Payment is by PayPal or USPS Money Order.
My curing oven will only handle pieces that are 16" long. If you have longer pieces you must cut them before shipping to me. Wood must be less than 10% moisture content.
Mark all pieces with a BIC White-out pen with your initials and any other marks you want to keep on the wood. There is no point in marking with any other kind of marker as the marks will probably disappear. Include with
your shipment a packing list of what you are sending.
The wood must be free of wax, varnish and any other kind of sealer. For best results it should be freshly sanded, planed, sawn or scraped. I do not prep your wood for you unless you want to pay me for that service at $50 per hour.
Wood is wood and I do not accept any responsibility for the results. What I do is place the wood in a vacuum chamber charged with acrylic resin for 1 1/2 hours under 30" of vacuum. I than pressurize the wood with the resin for 40 minutes. The wood is then wrapped in aluminum foil and cured for 1 1/2 hours at 200 degrees in a convection oven.
If you have any questions please contact me.
