Wood to go with African Blackwood?

Hey, so I have a cue set to be made but have nothing set in stone really. The cue I plan on having made is going to have no wrap.

The local cuemaker has one piece of African blackwood that is enough to make a stick. I guess I'd like to know what woods look nice with it?

It's either going to be this African blackwood or one that is ebony with a narra burl handle. Would narra burl look good with African blackwood?
 
Nara burl points with red, orange, yellow, and black veneers.

Narra burl butt with reverse points same as above.

We see this a lot! In the end it's YOUR cue... Don't let someone else design it for you! Unless your ideas are unreasonable or outright hideous ;)

In the end it's your design. And with any type of black or white wood your possibilities are endless... they are neutral colors and they go with everything! Search the gallery and see if anything there catches your eyes!

Find a killer piece of Olivewood, have it cored, call it a day. Good luck.
 
Some nice camitillo or some camphor burl would look nice. Most anything will work with blackwood but I tend to like a cinnamon color to go with it. The amboyna handle and red amboyna rings in my picture was mated with a blackwood forearm and butt sleeve.

LOTS of burl would go nicely with blackwood. Sky is truly the limit there.... For Example:...Gold maple burl would contrast nicely....maybe something like this.....Cue below shows it paired with Asian ironwood (dark brown)...

People are just recommending based on look and no regard for weight or hit.
It'd be shame to pair blackwood with a handle that muffs it's hit.

Good thoughts Joey. A nice piece of Gonçalo Alves, might be a good choice for the reason/s you've indicated.

A nice piece of curly purpleheart would look great, if your into that kind of wood.
