Woods for full length core

I`m looking to buy some woods for my first cues.
It`s gonna be full length core cues.
The obvious two woods are maple and purpleheart, I see Schmelke also has Goncolo Alves, Bacote, Shedua and Rosewood 30" x 1.5" round blanks, any purpose in trying those woods as a core?
What other woods work well as a core?

IF I had to do it ?
Cross laminated maple or bubinga .
Tapered holes on the forearm and handle .
That way, they make up for 90% of the hit. The outside wood will just be there for looks.

I made myself a cross-laminated 25" inch bubinga blank then extended the bottom. It hits really well.
A good maple board would probably just as good .
I imagine oak will be fine as well.

Maple is the most popular and probably PH is second... they do have a different feel as the core is really the wood of the cue.

Some use Bacote but I was always afraid of the swirly grain and thought it might have a tendency to squirm over time... Personally, I would stick with something straight grained and hard.

That`s what I thought too. Made some very nice Bacoce extensions, but it does not have that tight, straight grain like maple and purpleheart. I have read about Jatoba, but I have no experience with that wood. I`m guessing Bubinga will work, but I have not seen anyone offer 30" long dowles.
