No harm inteded...

I didnt want to say anything at all, but the post by ajcu612 is one of the most absurd paragraphs I have read on any internet forum yet. AJ, I would surely hope you dont believe what you just typed, and if you do, you should do all the research you can. READ READ READ!!! What part of Indiana are you from?
Actually, I learned this from my anthropology class. Our teacher spent an entire class lecturing on this. As for me needing to lighten up, I wasn't being critical of anybody. Everybody just seemed to be reading too deeply into everything. So I thought I would add my two cents. I really am sorry if I came across as an ass in this post. I was just trying to add some information while having some fun as well. As far as me believing what I posted, I do. That argument has been most strongly presented to me; therefore, that is the argument I feel is most true. There is bound to be lots of research to contradict this. But, like I said, this is the strongest argument, in my opinion.

My money is on Jimmy!

Hey man, what's up with that? You haven't even seen me play? You're cold blooded man! I agree with you in one thread and you bum-kick me like that? I'm feeling sore all over!!! LOL!!

Don't worry, I'm not taking it personal. It is cold considering I used to play in your grandfather's pool hall though.

Oh, okay then. Seriously though, I never will put someone's game down unless I play them first. I have never said FL's game is bad and never would unless I played him. Even then I probably wouldn't because that's just not the way I was raised. I just couldn't help myself after reading Jimmy's post!

I played a guy in a tournament one time in SF at the Great Entertainer. This guy was in his 90's. He had his own fold-up chair he carried around with him and an old snooker cue. Evidently, he used to be a snooker champion in Canada when he was young. The guy could play! I mean for a 90 year old, he was impressive! I beat him and I could tell he had that competetive thing going on because he didn't like getting beat one bit. I respected that guy and still think about him! I sure hope I can play as good as him in my 90's if I make it that long!

One more thing. I don't dispute anything Larry says about how good he is, I just don't like reading his lengthy posts where he says it all the time!!

What stands out most from your post is that you are a student and that you are still in the process of learning. That is good. But you must know or learn that intelligence is all relative. When Efren Reyes runs four racks and how he does it, it is intelligence of the highest order. When Ralf Soquet comes in with a game plan and is able to execute, that borders on genius. And so on and so on. Smarts come not only from books and teachers but LIFE EXPERIENCE!!! I have a young lady in my household who I am very proud of who has got her BA and MFA graduated 4.0 magna cum laude and now is in the PhD. program. But she wouldnt be able to balance her checkbook or figure out how not to go over her CC limit with out my help. Perhaps when you get older you will understand. And you might not be quick to accuse some one of being "ludicrous" when they are just trying to bring an air of joy after 10 grueling days like "instroke" spoke about

I can quite agree with you that Poker and Pool are the two greatest words that start with P in the English language but Pompousity and Pretentious are 2 good words to remember as well/

Another instance in which the Internet masks meaning...

I am not naive enough to think that the only knowledge comes from formal schooling. And, I also know that there is a difference between knowledge and wisdom. Just because I am still a student does not mean I haven't had my share of "life experiences." Perhaps through the lack of ability to really know my tone of voice, the meaning of my post was misunderstood. The only thing I was labeling as being ludicrous was trying to classify "Hawaiin" as being an "American" language. America was obviously built upon a large medley of cultures, but just because some big-wigs in D.C. voted to make Hawaii a state doesn't mean that its culture necessarily belongs to this country. It is something unique to that state--as all states have slight cultural variations unique to themselves. The United States may own Hawaii as a state, but the society and culture of Hawaii belong to the people a part of that society and culture. So much ado about such a small point:) . I am not trying to be pompous; I just don't want to be misunderstood.

You see that is book learning but I am someone who has had the experience of growing up in Hawaii as a possesion of the US so I dont need a lecture about Hawaii from you. And that is the tenor of your speech. Which gets back to the idea of woofing and barking. Shannon Daulton woofing on Efren now that's ludicrous.

I've always thought it was pretty funny when someone woofs at someone else when they're asking for weight! "C'mon, you nit! Gimme the <insert spot here> and we can bet something!"
