(IMHO, They are overpaying for runner up-$40K is probably biggest for runner up of any event for past decade. Usually runner up is 50% of winner's cheque so $30K is more reasonable. The extra $10K could have been used to pay more players further down. 3rd-4th of $20K is also high -more reasonable is 25% of winners cheque so $15K each which means extra $10K could have been used to pay more players further down the line. This payout structure is paying more and more to the "top 1%" )

Doubling the size of the field was ambitious and good to see but at least 1/4 of that field shouldn't be in this elite event. Would love to see the break down of the allocations including promoter, wild card, replacements, and (covid) filler.

Hopefully more that one table gets streamed and some others pop up.

thanks for keeping us updated, spartan.

a few years ago seeing those taiwanese names i would be willing to bet atleast one of them going to the final. JL chang, KPY, KPC are brutal 10-ball players. now i'm not so sure. they haven't looked like their usual selves, i think two years away from tournaments has really taken its toll on them.

i agree, collectivist insanity. maybe better kept in NPR so i won't elaborate my thoughts further.

Just stupidity by CSI and Matchroom (and WPA). The sanctions don't require banning Russians and no other sport or business has taken this step (because it violates our US discrimination laws). Hopefully Fedor lawyers up and ends this nonsense.

No Gorst? Thought he was still in the states?
Him And Kristina are traveling around the US playing tournaments and doing fine. So stupid of the organization for barring them from playing. I hope they remember who pulled that shit on them when they want anything from him.

Very strong field.
21 Fargo 800 (out of possible 30)
35 top 50 Fargo.
i.e. 70% of top players are playing.
I would say 99% that the winner will be from top 35 players. And probably 90% to 95% that winner will be from top 20
Anyone outside top 50 have next to zero chance of winning this give or take a few positions or Fargo points.
