SVB foul that was not called. ☹️

He hit the 8 ball with the cue ball on the jump shot in the last game.

Yes, the 8 moved and that is the kind of tiny hit that every near the table could miss.
Agreed that it was a foul. Nonetheless, SVB was in his finest form and would surely have won the match anyway.

I don't think it's unfair to ask whether SVB saw the eight move, but we'll never know. On the other hand, having read the Savannah Easton thread, it's clear to me that February 29 is "who cares about the rules day." Thankfully, it only comes once every four years.

Shane is in a Tom Brady kind of zone at this stage of his career playing beast mode pool despite years of hard mileage,

incredible stuff from Shane, seems to me like if he wants to he'll be at the business end of tournaments for years to come

Agreed in one sense. SVB can still perform at an amazing level. Certainly, his win at the World 8-ball reminded us of what he can do when he's dominating with his break.

The hard truth, however, is that since his win in February 2022 at the World Pool Championship, SVB is without a major title in either 9ball or 10ball since. Maybe this is the week in which that will change, given the great pool he displayed in Stage 1.

Wish him the best of luck.

I'm technically not a SVB hater, but we need to give Alex some credit for the score line. Alex's wheel came off before the set even got going. Definitely not the same guy that took out Filler.

No way that the winner should be determined by spot shots. Why not adopt a Super Bowl format. Lag for break. Winer of the lag breaks. if you win that rack the other player gets a break and a chance to win that game. This alternate format goes until one player wins two racks in a row. THAT'S POOL. not this spot shot festival which I personally HATE!!!
I believe the spot shot has become the signature for the Pro Billiard Series. It's a a huge form of entertainment for spectators and hated by the players. I personally like it because it a true test of the mental fortitude of pool players. In trapshooting you have to shoot and hit the equivalent of 1,000 spots shots from the first diamond over multiple days under various lighting conditions to win the World Single Championship. A professional pool player would look for the nearest 2 feet cliff to jump off under those conditions 😀 😉

Anyway, I believe a World championship in pool should be decided on total skills rather than just a mental test so I would favor a "best of sets" format without a shootout.

Maybe for variety's sake the tiebreaker should be a pool version of H-O-R-S-E, with players alternating for their choice of shots. It'd be interesting to see who'd be first to push the envelope by attempting three rail banks or long billiards shots into the 10 ball.

Question regarding the refs for these events and this is mainly from something I saw in the women's invitational tournament. The guy refing the match had an EPBF patch on his shirt. Someone told me that predator and the WPA brought in refs from Europe to do these events. Is this true?

I only ask because I find it hard to believe that they did not reach out to anyone here in the states who have done ref work at tournaments like the international and US open.
