Hohman(sp?) 200
vs
Schmidt 64

High run is 174

Dale

This is an absolute must and it is on DVD #2. One of the most electrifying matches ever, for the simple reason that each knew the other was likely to produce a very high run. Hohmann knew all about Schmidt's 400 ball run and Schmidt knew all about how Hohmann beat the field into submission at the 2005 European Straight Pool Championships, so each played with an unforgettable sense of urgency.

I recall that John Schmidt posted on this forum what a privilege it was to have been involved in this match and was extremely gracious in defeat and complimentary of Hohmann.

How good were these two players this year? Consider what each accomplished shortly after the 2006 World Straight Pool Championships, In July, Hohmann would best a field of 200 at the IPT Las Vegas 8-ball event, winning $350,000. In September, John Schmidt would beat an even larger field to capture the US Open nine ball event.

This is match you absolutely, positively, have to purchase. You'll really regret it if you don't have this match in your pool library.

The next move is yours.

Sorry, folks, but this was not the recorded match. The match where Thorsten ran the 174 wasn't taped, as it wasn't a featured match in that round.

The match that was recorded was an early round robin match, race to 100, where both players made a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes. Schmidt got the better of things in this one.

I share your disappointment.

Slight bummer, but I'm buying it and recommending it anyway. There are two of this eras superstars of straight pool.

Yes, i confirmed that the DVD Hohmann vs Schmidt match was a round robin match race to 100. They later rematched again in a race to 200 .

The finals on DVD I heard was impressive as Hohmann put together 200 points in 3 innings. Not easy to do in straight pool.
