Dear there:

First of all, thanks to Dragon and Seyberts for putting together a great events under pressure and obstacles. I had a great time at Hilton. I am also very happy to meet up with some of the forum members here. Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement.

Let's try drawing up some stories here to share with everyone. I will start:

Jasmin's Escape

Use the page arrows in the lower right to navigate, feel free to make corrections since I am drawing this from my memory.

It was in the afternoon of day 4. Both players had gone a very long way to come to this stage. I could sense their tired soul. However, they were both dead focused and not giving up a bit. Being the underdog, Jasmin out performed herself to everyone's surprise. One expert commented she has got a square form and a manly stroke reminiscent of Jean Balukas.

Watching a straight pool match between players at this caliper is very different. If one misses a ball or even a safety could mean a big punishment: sitting down to watch the other running balls for 90 minutes. You might not even have a chance to come back again. It's also amazing to see someone coming out of chair to run 100s and beating up on the other guy. The intensity just can't be matched.

Cheers
Wei

I didn't see that round, but I saw here play the round before against Felder.

I was also very impressed with Jasmin's stroke, and stance; I remember specifically pointing her out to a fellow pool shooter who I was with.

Almost like watching a Tiger Woods swing that seemed to be mechanically perfect; fluid, square, perfect posture, balanced, no wasted movement.

The cuetable's not working properly for me at the moment Wei.

I can't see any of the buttons / arrows. Just the table and a row of balls.

Flash seems to be a bit irratic in my maxthon browser though.

It's working fine for me and somehow i actually remember that shot. I thought it was Jasmine's only chance but thought it was near impossible to pull off.

I was quite impressed with her in general-more than ever and i saw her in Vegas. She ran almost all her racks without ever touching a rail with the OB.

changed from what i remember four years ago when she was 16 and visiting nyc,,,jasmin's stance does seem much more agressive, imo. and it is reminiscent of balukas's,,,(even though i haven't seen jean more than a few times)

It's working for me now. I had to click on the spanner (tools section). Looks a lot different than before.

An excellent play by play description Wei!

Thank you Colin, we have decided to hide all tools for a simplistic look so people can focus on the important stuff. There will be more things coming out in a few days. I will post them here after final tests.

Meanwhile, anyone else like to post a story from World 14.1 2006? There are so manny interesting shots there...

I will do another one, just 4 simple pages:

Danny's Agenda

Max Eberle vs Danny Barouty match in World 14.1 Staight Pool Championship 2006
Young gun vs old timer
Both had scores in the 170's with less than 30 balls to go. Danny got stocked. He couldn't find a way out and played an intentional foul by tapping the cueball frozen to the rack.
Max did the same.

Danny fouled again and Max did the same again.

Danny then without a doubt, going for the kick shot at 12, planning to miss on the long side (I seriously believe he knew this from 2 shots ago).

He missed. Max came up. Danny moved all balls to be re-racked and told Max, "You are on two." He then subtract 15+2 from his own score.

He then made a perfect break shot, leaving nothing. Max played a perfect safe in return.

Much later Danny has a chance to run again, but rushed himself a little and gave away the chance. Max ran out at the end. An great match to watch: intense, psychological, funny and educational.

Danny is a great chess player (2200?) to dominate the table with moves. He would rather give up 15 points (which is nothing if he gets running) than allows a chance to for a good player like Max to have a shot.

Max was at his peak, winning all the way to the semil finals.

Danny currently runs a straight pool league at Corners Billiards on monday night in new york. He did everything with pencil and papers. The only time he uses a computer is to play chess, and he claims he always win at the hardest level. A charming character of his own kind.

Cheers
Wei
