The two Philipinos are going to chop $37,500-- and they have to room together? I haven't heard of such a display of parsimony since Smorg and JoeyA tried to beat each other out of a lunch check!

Hey you are jumping to delusions- It may not be the Parsley-They might be skeyowed of the dark!!

You also probably know that they are stablemates. Until we've seen the game, we can't go into conclusions. Peace out.

I wonder if the cost of travel might have forced it? For the same reason that Americans didn't play (money, cost of travel), the Filipinos may have decided to save some money in the case that they didn't win enough?

A little off topic,

There is another well known Shiekh in the UAE, (Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nayan, son of Sheikh Zayed, former president of the United Arab Emirates) who studied in the US and happened to fall in love with the sport of Submission Grappling.

Upon returning home, in 1998 he founded what was to become the world's most prestigous Submission Grappling tournament. The tournament (now held once every two years) attracts some of the world's greatest Olympic Wrestlers, Submission Grapplers and Martial Artists and is akin to a cuesport tournament that would include top players from all cue disciplines.

I guess my half assed point here is that although the prize money was never huge to start, the Shiekh always paid expenses for the participants.

Now you're talking. You got the wheels a spinning. Bill Gates and Warren Buffett can't give their money away fast enough. They each have over 50 billion dollars each. They are both philanthropists.

Maybe they would be interested in helping out. With their money and know how, they could buy the best management team available. A small war chest of 20 million could make the pool world turn itself around. That's what we need, a little management (and cash). I wonder if they have pool tables in their homes. I would volunteer to give them pool lessons for a night in their ear. LOL

The head prince of Abu Dabai (SP?) plays pool and could bankroll a fine pool business. I forget his name but he played Bustamante in one of the tournaments recently.

What are you doing with so much V CASH, don't you ever gamble?
JoeyA

on the other hand,

IF

food and lodging was provided, it's unfortunate none of the US players were willing to chance the cost of an airline ticket.

I saw a picture in Taiwan where Reyes and Busta also shared a room. I think it's just because their good friends and also have to talk about plans. Coaching each other. Unfortunately for Alcano and Orcollo they have to face in the finals.

Aww, you are missing a lot for not planning to go there. I hope they move the tournament back to Dubai. That place is fantastic. I mean a 1st-world city that doesn't feel like too westernized; it's a very different experience.

Remember Ronnie will get extra 25K from the Phil Gov't.

He would have gotten another bonus from San Miguel Corp, if Ronnie kept the company as his sponsor. I wonder if he will get bonus from Guinness.

When you get hurt at the pool tournament and you are calling out for a doctor and Doc hears you calling for help, what do you think he is going to say? :(

I liked it better when the WPC was held in the Philippines. Unless they improve the website and coverage of the tournament, I would not like it to return to Dubai. At least when it was in Manila, we had better coverage and we were able to watch the tournament LIVE via the internet.
