It's surprising

that they get the quality of players that they have considering the $25,000 1st place prize money. Seems more like entertainment for the royalty over there, than a serious Pool competition. And don't tell me, that those billionaire shieks over there couldn'[t spare a little more of their 'interest' money for the Poolplayers...... LOL

I think that the reigning Pool associations that be in this day and age need to require a certain amount be paid to the players before anything can be called a 'World Championship'.

Did anyone happen to break down what Ronnie earned on a per game basis?
Or worse yet, what Dennis earned?

Bringing the competition to the country is very expensive.

Do you think Guinness will give Ronnie a bonus?

Jerry Forsyth's dead-on prediction

My dad just came back with an amazing story to tell about the competition.

Beside Jerry Forsyth watching the game between Orcullo and Chamat in the Semifinals with Chamat leading 1-0, my dad asked him who would win. He said Orcullo would win. The score would be 10-7.

While Engert and Joven Bustamante were playing, he boldly predicted that it would be Alcano and Orcullo would be in the final. The score would be 11-8 Alcano winning everything.

Guess what... he was dead on. Both... times.

Who is Joven Bustamante?

Joven Bustamante, Elvis Calasang and Mario Tolentino are Filipino pro pool players based in the middle east. Joven and Elvis are based in Kuwait. Mario Tolentino is based in Dubai. They mainly make their living as house pros teaching. Their speed is around that of upper-3rd tier of Filipino pool players (basically a notch below the likes of Rodolfo Luat and around the level of Gandy Valle). They all qualified into the main draw.

Among the Middle East based players, Joven is the most promising talent. When he came back to the Philippines for last year's National Pool Championships, he cleaned out the upper third tier players in money matches. He had a bad showing in the tournament proper though.

They're all coming home for the Philippine National Pool Championship and all three are considering staying home to hone their games for the World Pool Championship qualifiers should they feel good about their games.

Please keep the BSCP/Raya site up-to-date. I hate bothering people by texting or calling them about info that can/should be picked up at said site. TNX
