You really seemed to have the millions of casual viewers in mind up until the no jump cues rule. Instead of giving the audience what they want you will constantly see guys tieing up balls instead of kicking or trying to jump with their player.
Just another reason for the casual viewer to change the channel when they see something they can't relate to. (tieing up balls)
Again I'm totally behind you so this is just a friendly suggestion. It's the same rules for everyone so it's still totally fair.
Here's something to think about. If a player gets out of line on the next shot to the point that they are faced with using their players cue to jump, or tyeing up balls, they'd be better off trying to kick or make the jump...because remember, incoming player has ball in hand...and starts from anywhere. Tyeing up balls may have stooped the incoming player from being able to run out...but did that move stop the incoming player from picking up a win by being able to line up a combo on the 10 ball? Jump shots are known to pool players, not to an audience that has a sears pool table downstairs in the basement. Go to any Boys & Girls clubs and see the kids there playing pool, not one of the kids even own a cue, let alone a jump cue.
When you're teaching little 8yr old Joey how to play pool on your table at home, it's just a pool table, and just a game for 99% of the people that own a home pool table...the last thing the dad is trying to teach little Joey...is how to play safe.....or how to jump a ball...because even he don't know...but he's the role model for little Joey to learn from at the moment.
I think we need to work on giving the world a show first...as entertainers to the masses, before we start trying to teach the finer points of the game to the few that would even care.
I still know plenty of places around the USA that if you were playing a $2.00 game of 8 ball in a bar, and got stuck or left behind a ball....and pulled out your jump cue to make the shot...your jump cue would for sure get used....but not in the way you'd have thought
