This tournament starts in two weeks. The qualification charts are available at www.umb.org.

Irapuato is approximately midway between Guadalajara and Mexico City.

Some things I found interesting:

The two seeded Mexican players are Raymondo Munoz and Alain Hernandez. Does anyone know anything about these two players, because I don't recognize the names. On the other hand, Paniagua, Vera, Covarrubias, Sosa, and Avila all have to play in the qualification rounds. (Roberto Rojas is the tournament director and isn't scheduled to play.)

There are four US players listed: Hugo Patino, Miguel Torres, Carlos Mercado, and Juan Hernandez. I know the first three, but does anyone have any information about Juan Hernandez?

The only Turkish player listed is Tayfun Tasdemir. What is the latest news on the problems Sayginer and others are having with the Turkish federation?

The reigning World Junior Champion, Glen Hofman, of the Netherlands is entered. Here's a video of his 10-and-out to win the championship: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frliJeT9ueE

The main tournament starts today. The only US player to make it through the qualification rounds is Hugo Patino, and only two of the Mexican players got through: Guillermo Sosa and Rodolfo Covarrubias. The two seeded Mexican players (the Juniors) drew Blomdahl and Covarrubias in the first round. Scores will be posted throughout the day at www.umb.org.

Where's Hugo?

Hugo Patino finished first in his qualification round group and the first schedule posted for the main tournament showed him playing Kim Jae Guen. But when the final schedule came out Kim was shown playing Jean Paul De Bruijn. Kim beat De Bruijn. What happened to Hugo?

Jaspers eliminated Caudron in semi-finals.Jaspers had 2.250 average.Caudron had 0.611

Maybe the worst average of his world cup carrier for Caudron.

I hadn't watched it but Blomdahl once had a 0.600 match against Rodriguez in a Sang Lee tournament in previous years.Even top players like Caudron or Blomdahl may once in a while have nightmare matches.

To stop Jaspers is very difficult recently .Maybe Sanchez or Forthomme may do it.

Timur

Sanchez eliminated Zanetti in 4 sets.

The final is between Jaspers and Sanchez

Congratulations to Jaspers and Dani!
Congratulations to Javi Palaz?n too!!!
He won "World Champion" Umeda by 3-0, wonderfull Javi!!

Anyone know what happened to Miguel Torres? 0.250 average and played only one of his two matches? Did he get sick or something?

Robert

Jaspers seems to win everything recently.European Championship,Porto,Mexico....He was also phenomenal in AGIPI except the final againt Blomdahl.

regards,

Jaseprs is a phenomenal player, but is not a number one, I think.
He is down in the finals, and he make 2,500 of average without problem, but he can lose with anyone.
This is just my opinion, and I repeat is a fantastic player.

In my humble opinion,He is a perfect three cushion player. He has a extraordinary stroke. He seems not to have the explosive stroke of Blomdahl or juicy stroke of Saygıner but he has a extremely solid stroke. Before his cue touches his cue ball, his cue movement is unique:a very solid and very straight movement and what a precision! I believe he is snooker -precise.He knows every gram of the cue ball like the inside of his hand and exactly hits the thickness he wants. He is the most precise top player ,maybe.

I cannot coment about other aspects of his game becouse I have limited knowledge about the game.Maybe Mr Raifford may elaborate.

Timur

Blomdahl has said that Jaspers is the most precise player and gets very accurate hits at a distance that other top players struggle with. Jaspers himself has said that he needs to be very precise because he hasn't the imagination of Sayginer, Caudron, or Blomdahl. (His words, not mine.)

I'm just happy to have such great players (add Sanchez to the list) to see and to learn from.

Ok ok! :embarrassed2:
I never wanted to say that manolo is a bad player, just the opposite.
I think that is a very technical player, too technical.
This may be a problem for him, because it is predictable and surprising in very few occasions.
I think the improvisation of Blomdahl, Sayginer, Caudron or Sanchez, is the difference with Jaspers, which makes me more like these four players.
