Classic match-up coming up!!

Reyes vs Souquet -- It's been said before that Souquet has Efren's number. Will Efren finally find a way to break the Souquet jinx?

Django vs Hohmann -- Both are cool, explosive players, albeit with very contrasting styles. Who will find a way to cancel the other?

Team Germany hasn't won this title yet. Makes them all the more hungry for it.

Team Philippines has to prove that they still have what it takes, but the electric home crowd can both be a gift and a curse.

Who will succumb? Who will prevail? And most importantly, what's for dinner? I'm hungry.....

Don't worry, whatever Ralf and Thorsten are cooking, they can't hide anything away from Django, Django speaks German remember?

That's some big azz table and balls there!

Guess you gotta have big azz balls to play on that big azz table:o. A rotation game on that table would drive me to drink ... oh wait, I already am--never mind.

haha that's right! Could that be an advantage? Or would they just be distracted?

haha! the Hawaiian Punch miscues... all in good fun....and he comes up with a good break!

(I guess Manny Pacquiao is busy training for his upcoming fight with Cotto)

The Finals!

Reyes and Souquet to lag.....Reyes' was nowhere near the rail while Souquet's was almost spot on....needless to say, Germany to break.

Hohmann comes up with an outstanding break....

Souquet's shot on the 2 was good, but the cue ball hits the 9 on the way down-table....hohmann's faced with a difficult shot on the 3....and he almost scratches! The germans go for a safety, given that there is no good pocket for the 4. Bustamante returns the favor and it causes the germans to give the filipinos a good chance to run out, which they do. 1-0 is now the score in favor of the pinoys

Ted Lerner reminds the crowd that over the years, in singles matches Souquet has beaten Reyes majority of the time.

I am busy at work, but have to check the updates every now and then...

I am, as always, betting and hoping for Efren, but a small piece of me want Hohmann and Souquet to win also. I want Team Europe at the Mosconi to be Hohmann, Souquet, Immonen, Feijen and Appleton, and I believe a win in a Matchroom event is needed for Hohmann...

So, no matter who win I won't be too dissapointed, but my paypal-account is definitely cheering for Efren/Django. (Another part of my paypal-account is cheering on a strong European team at the Mosconi, though...) lol

wow

2,000 people in the attendance for this final!!! Filipinos are crazy, huh?

Django comes up with an illegal break! (only two balls crossed the headstring)

Django appears confused, although they went through this before in the previous semifinal match.

Hohmann now at the table, easy shot on the 3, Souquet's long shot on the 4 is good but it hit the 9, leaving Hohmann with another long shot on the 5. He got it though, no problem, and has a nice cut shot of the 6, which promptly sinks. However, on the way to down-table, the cue hits the 8 and the 9 now blocks the way to the 7!

Hohmann still has a small area to work with, and he shoots at the 7...and it almost goes in! Efren punishes im for the error, and the pinoys clear the table. 2-0

crowd is getting rowdy....and it's only the 2nd rack!

Efren breaks....makes sure that 3 balls pass the headstring, with 1 ball in. No good shot on the 2, though, and Django comes up with a great, great safety, hiding the cue ball behind the 8 with only millimeters clearance.

Souquet manages to hit the ball though after a two-bank kick, but there's a shot for Efren, and the crowd shows their appreciation. He almost flubs it, though, and the crowd gasps and then a collective sigh of relief.

Easy pickings now, as Django sinks the 9. 3-0 and the crowd goes bonkers, as Lerner so aptly puts it.

It's interesting to see how the 2 pinoys work so well together, almost not needing to talk to each other at all. In contrast, the Orcullo-Alcano team seemed very uptight and not relaxed at all.....

Another Django illegal break! (it's ironic, this coming from a player with one of the biggest breaks in the game)

Germans mull the table, and decide to go safe. Safety battle ensues, with one good shot after another.

Hohmann leaves an open shot on the 5, and Efren talks strategy with Django....excellent execution by Django, but there is an awkward shot for Efren on the 2. He tries to go safe again, but leave the 2 open AND right beside the corner pocket. Souquet comes up with a great, precision shot with good preparation on the 4 at the opposite end of the table.

Clear table now, and it's just a matter of time....Germans finally get on the board, 3-1 still in favor of the Filipinos
