This tournament started earlier today. There will be four rounds of qualification before the main tournament starts on Friday (Korean time).

Korean time is GMT+9. So, for example, the first round of the main tournament which is scheduled for 11 AM, Friday, will begin at 6 PM, Thursday, PST (9 PM EST). The new World Champion, Filipos Kasidokostas, is not seeded into the main tournament and will play a qualification match on Thursday at 1 PM (Korean time), which is 8 PM, Wednesday, PST.

The full player list and table times are available at www.umb.org.

If anyone knows about live coverage, please let us know.

Hyung Kon Kim, who averaged 2.5 in his qualification group with runs of 10 and 11, plays at 7 PM PST.

Too bad there seems to be an auto-focus problem on his table. It's starting now and way out of focus :(

Regardless, thanks for the link, Juan Antonio! And for the video of the amazing Sanchez-Legazpi match as well on your blog :)

Robert, you know that all my videos are yours, and if you want them, I send it to you by megaupload.
I hope you enjoy the videos.

... Kasidokostas averaged 2.29 in winning his qualification group and as a reward gets to play Forthomme in the first round of the MT. ...
It's interesting that K. had to qualify. I think the World Championship may raise his ranking some. ... I see that he is now ranked 10th and so will not have to qualify for WorldCups. He was ranked 17th before Lausanne.

The next World Cup in Egypt starts in just over two weeks and the seedings were determined almost two months ago, so K. will still have to qualify for that one. He will almost certainly be seeded for the World Cup in Turkey in February.

Results of the first round are here: http://www.umb.org/ausschreibung/upload/results/282/L. MT 1_16.pdf

Jaspers, Blomdahl, Legazpi, Merckx, and Zanetti all averaged over 2 in straight set wins. Caudron and Sanchez both averaged about 2 after losing their respective first sets.

Kyung-Roul Kim and Jae Ho Cho went to five sets and both had exactly the same number of points in the same number of innings. Cho lost the fifth set in the one hole. Tough way to go.

Today's matches are scheduled for 5 and 7:30 PM PST.

Edit: The match times above are for the round of 16. The quarter-finals are also today at 11:00 PM PST.

what's up?

its 9:20 PM EST and still nothing. could it be that you have to pay to gain access? could live feed have been lost because of insufficient band-width?

I can't see the streaming either, btw.

So does anyone know what the device in the lower right of this picture from the tournament site is?

Can anyone read Korean well enough to translate it?
