Wu is playing now. 2-1 Polish dude, Fortunski. Must mean "i'm lucky" in Polish as he just made the 9b on the snap.

Wow, Wu just hooked himself with three balls to go on hill-hill and missed a jump. Fortunski botched a safety. Wu then badly overcut his attempt on the 6 ball and sold out. Fortunski won 11-10 and the crowd went wild.

Wu had a thin cut that he tried to put inside English on and didn't come close... took him two re-tries after the match to make the shot.
 
How were the players selected for this? In 9-Ball, USA is the only country with 2 players (of the 16). Are the players' expenses being paid somehow, as representatives of their countries? (Would the BCA pay?)

Lots of good players there. Now we know why Shaw isn't in Las Vegas.

Shaw could meet Ko Pin Yi in a semifinal match.

I'm rooting for Wilkie at this point!
 
Well, my pulling for Wilkie didn't help -- he lost 2-11 to Alcaide. But Shaw and Ko both won, so they could still meet in the semifinals on Saturday.

On the women's side, all went according to the seedings in the first round except for Kelly Fisher falling to 18-year-old Russian Kristina Tkach.
 
Unique set up wit snooker, pool and carom next to each other.

The dress code requires shirt and vest. Ali Carter on the snooker table looks impeccable in his outfit, Naoyuki Oi on the pool table next to him looks like a slob - has his shirt outside the pants, and one sleeve rolled up, the other one down. What a contrast - even if the outfit is sopposed to be the same. The pool players should ask the snooker players where they buy their long vests..

Also funny with the refs on the snooker table. They are so concerned about standing behind their players and not being in the way, but they forget aboout the pool players on the table close to them and sometimes clearly disturbs that player.

:( I cannot view the men's 9 ball match between Biado and Fortunski, only the other ongoing 3 matches. Can they only live stream 3 matches at a time?
