World Snooker Professional Championship 2013

Tree.

I'm not keen on Ken, especially as analyst, as opposed to commentator. He's a bit too matey-matey for my liking. Davis is also a poor analyst/link man, and not much better in the commentary box. He doesn't know when to stop talking.

Taylor has really improved during this tournament - he's concentrated on top class punditry, rather than endlessly waffling on about how lovely everyone is, and cliched guff about players' nicknames. He's terrific when it comes to spotting shots.

The Great WT is a pompous arse, but I quite like pompous arses in certain situations, and he gets away with it.

Griffiths is wry and dry, and really quite amusing - it always makes me laugh when he criticises players for playing too slowly lol.

Virgo's good value all round, a safe pair of hands. Parrot's great as an analyst and commentator.

Hendry started slowly but is going to be class in all roles.

I'd also say Hazel Irving is top class too - and I bet she hates snooker.

I agree on many counts but not Hazel Irvine. I saw her come out of the unused commentary booth last night in her street clothes. We had a chat and she said, "I had the night off but really wanted to see the Trump/O'Sullivan match."

I didn't like Hendry's commentary last year, but this year he is on point from what I've caught.

JV tries to bring some excitement to the game but his hollers can be heard through the plexiglass.

Griffiths has been sweating Hawkins and spending some time in the press room. A nice, soft-spoken man.

Steve Davis looks slim and tall, especially in his dress clothes. A few days ago when the second half of the session wasn't needed he filled an hour for the crowd. He performed 3 trick shots and one hour of stand-up comedy. He was quite funny and really knows how to handle a crowd.

Jason Mohammed has been quite friendly and seems to be fitting in with the snooker crowd.

Willie Thorne might be the most disliked by the die-hard British snooker fans. One Scot described him something like this: Willie says what could theoretically happened if the player would have shot a different shot, what might have happened if the player missed that shot, and what theoretically would have been a been a better shot 5 shots ago.

New Controversy :

Yes we have more controversy at The Crucible, this time its in the commentators box ....Who ate all the scones ?? number one suspect : Willie Thorne (allegedly)

on aside note : no chitchat on the long walk to the dressings rooms this time... Ronnie smells blood.

And a shark that smells blood doesn't want to talk, it wants to feed.

..on the menu this evening: Barry Hawkins.

===============
well at 7-7 all square Ronnie can't stick a fork in Barry Just yet....

(reminds me of that heartburn commercial where the food fights back )

prediction: Ronnie' gonna turn up the heat in the kitchen, shift gears ...choose your metaphor

I think if Ronnie makes three more centuries in the finals, he'll have the record for the most in one match at The Crucible.

I like Dennis Taylor for his shot analysis, but, being Irish, he yaps too much. :D

Dennis gets the shot to be played right, as compared to Incardona who has a very high error rate. :D
(Incardona is a pool commentator)

Dennis Taylor was the best 'end game' player of his era....so I agree about
his shot selection.
But I'm sticking up for Billy Incardone.....many of his commentating mistakes
stem from the fact that he thinks one-pocket better than the actual players.

If I had to choose only one commentator.....I would choose Steve Davis, the
sanest of all the snooker champions.

Frame 17

Couldn't watch it on the stream, but the scorecard reveals square at 62 points with 7 remaining. I guess that was a give away by both with Rocket getting a gift ? Don't tell, I'll watch the replay.

Glad to see both men scrapping it out.

I rarely watch pool, and only9-ball.
The only memorable commentators?
Billy & Jim Wych - The Bickersons :D
Never watch one-pocket.
It never turns up on TV.

I've been noticing those roll-offs throughout the semi-finals and I guess they've not fixed them. The more noticeable ones have been on the table's right half if viewed from the baulk line end of the table.

since they went to one table its been bad, the table looked to play a bit slow today.

when they had 2 tables up i didnt see any funny rolls, today i saw more than another time this year.

Grasshopper say...

I think he gets there tomaro 18-13 is my pick.

Just for a laugh I said to my son Johnny I wouldn't mind a quid on whatever round that Floyd 'Money' Mayweather.

I couldn't find a link to the fight so in a TKO situation,I went to bed .

I woke up to find out that Floyd 'Money' Mayweather went the distance and won the fight on points after 12 rounds .

Grasshopper say...

Tomaro is a new day so let's check the odds...:thumbup:

Question to The Thaiger . What's your call ?

Ronnie O'Sullivan V Judd Trump match

who is your favorite?

Hendry dosent say much but what he says is spot on! as expected, he knows as much about the modern game as anyone. He is a bit dry and matter of fact, but thats cool what he says counts.

Steve Davis is good that way too, and he does throw in a good joke now and then or a dig at a player. I like that, very sublime.

All the BBC guys are VERY good, They all do a good job, the whole show is well presented. tho it does get a bit redundant at times with the mid session interval analysis of the matches.

Auntie Beeb missed a trick in this match.

They should've had Stephen Hendry and Jimmy White commentating.

I bet a buck Jimmy would've said I should've taken a year out like Ronnie did Stephen and I would've taken a title off you .
