World Snooker Proffesional Championships 2012

I think you need to give these guys a break. The game has changed somewhat and things are just shaking out right now. These guys are the new breed. They just aren't the new breed you were expecting. Give them time.
I agree. Like it or not, love it or hate it, change is part of living. Just like in any sport, the old will hand off to the young sooner than they would probably like, and changes will take place.

Yeah, I watched that match from start to finish. I actually felt sorry for Hendry. To say he was having a bad day is an understatement. We all go through those time no matter what is done is wrong, but he had it in spades on this match. I saw where he has announced his retirement?

Yes, he's quit. Said he made his mind up 3 months ago. Wonder if he'd quit if he won it? Either way, good move. I hope Higgins and O'Sullivan follow suit, because they're equally finished. Watching Ronnie this afternoon reminded me of willing a clearly past-it Jimmy White on to one last hurrah. It was painful.

I will, but it could be the first time in the history of the game that the next generation is poorer than the one it replaces. It's entirely possible we'll never see players as good as Hendry, Higgins, Williams & O'Sullivan ever again. :(

how can Higgins and O'Sullivan be equally finished? I really disagree with this, Ronnie has his ups and downs for many years now, he even talk about it openly, however as of now he's in a very good form, this game for him versus Robertson is just the final of this tournament, believe it or not who wins this, will win the championship in my opinion, its just the early Finals.

Higgins also didn't get the best of this tournament but he is still playing great.

I think Ronnie and Higgins have at least 10 more years to give for the snooker world, if not more~ then again its all a matter of personal preference when it comes to when to quit, for example Freddy davis played when he was 70 yrs old, if Hendry wants to quit, its because he wants to quit thats all.

Ten years!!!?

They may milk the game for all they can get but let's not kid ourselves - they're spent. If Higgins were a racehorse, he'd be shot.

If I've said it once, I've said it a million times. Don't exaggerate. Even if there's a bit of a gap, new players will emerge.

Sullivan is playing sensationally in the second session, they're in the interval now and Robertson was completely blown off the table and didn't really have a response. O'Sullivans best gear is still the best gear there is or ever has been.

It's only four frames, but I think saying that O'Sullivan is almost finished career wise isn't really accurate. It's all about the mental side with him, and maybe the older he gets the more he will cope mentally.

9-7 coming into the final session. Can't help feeling Ronnie has missed a trick here - I'd rate this as level game now.

I don't think anyone should be fooled by Ronnie's game - he's MILES short of what he was. He still misses easy balls, is careless on safeties and has GOT to sort that break shot out.

He had a lot of luck this afternoon, and luck's a bugger.

If you mean lucky as in Robertson missing balls he normally wouldn't miss (several times) then yes he got lucky, but I personally dont consider that luck. I agree that O'sullivan isn't in his best form, but it looks as though it's still good enough to be world champion

I was watching in mypremium tv website BBC2 channel stream, the match hasn't ended but they changed to some antics tv show, its ronnie 12 or 11, robertson i think 8, and it was supposedly the last session, where can I continue watching, if you have a link please tell me, thanx.

The draw :

http://www.sportinglife.com/snooker/worldchampionships2012/draw/

The bookies must reckon that the winner of Ronnie V Neil takes the title.

Quarter final match odds :

Ryan Day (26/19) V Matthew Stephens (8/11)

Stephen Maguire (4/7) V Stephen Hendry (13/8)

Jamie Jones (11/4) V Ali Carter (4/11)

Ronnie O'Sullivan (4/6) V Neil Robertson (6/4)

So out the last 8 players you could have had Ronnie,Neil,Maguire to get there but Day,Stevens and Jones, haven't did much over the season. Then Carter and Hendry who haven't turned up until this tournament.Lots of shock results so far,be good to see how many favourites reach the Semi Finals.

Well what do you know. The pesky bookies chalk up Stephens,Maguire,Carter and O'Sullivan as Favourites and the boat comes in.At odds of 8/11,4/7,4/11,4/6 @ £1 paid out £6.17.Lucky if you can buy a fish supper for that price nowadays,no wonder I stopped betting and anyway the event predictor doesn't cost anything to enter.
