Worse Player in the Room!

I guess since you won, now he is the worst player in the house. As soon as a guy starts throwing stuff like autopctech said he did a couple of weeks ago, he has no chance to win, unless you get intimidated, which I don't. I played in a VNEA tournament with all AA+ players and I was a B. One guy that I beat 4-0 who only got a shot or two and missed, stormed out after he lost. I knew I had him when before the match he was complaining to the league operator about me playing as a B-player.

I'm never happy when I lose, but insulting the guy that just kicked your butt isn't cool or smart. I usually go somewhere and practice after I lose an important match.
I agree,i almost came back with saying no im the 2nd worst player, your the worst player in here, lol.I do pride myself for staying cool and calm,i felt i did for the most part besides telling him he was a whiner, but i played bad today regardless,i dont whine about it,you have those days but i will get out and play this week and im sure i will do better,i guess the key is being positive.

A conversation I've had with different players after I've beat them in small tourneys:

Cocky Player: I can't believe I lost to a no playing, no gamblin' nit like you! Why don't you get up and bet something?

Me: How much do you want to bet?

CP: $500 or a thousand!!

Me: Let me ask you a question.

CP: What's that, you nit?

Me: Why would you want to pay $500 or a thousand for a lesson I just gave to you for ten bucks?

Be sure you are standing back from them when you say this, as they tend to turn bright red and start throwing stuff! LOL

One guy I said this to javelin threw his cue through the wall!

I was playing in a tournament today and lose my first match after being up 4-1 in a race to 5,i shook the guys hand and was upset with myself.I go through the losers side not playing good at all and win a few matches and then play a cocky kid.We go back and forth a bit and its 3-3,i crack the 9 and I am on the hill.I end up winning the match and he shakes my hand and as he walks away he says "I just got beat by the worse player in the room.".I am taken by this comment and say "that is exactly what i want to hear",he says lets gamble and he will give me the 8,i tell him that he has no class and when you lose you should shake hands and just say nice game when you lose instead of crying like a little biatch.I am a pretty good sport win or lose,i wasnt playing well today but still beat the kid and he acted like punk.I was just wondering if you guys have had run-ins with poor sports like this?I dont usually especially since i am a very good sport and dont disrespect people but what gives.

There generally seems to be an abundance of these type of players at the smaller weekly tournaments. It's unfortunate as well, because I think it can turn other players away from certain locations and can sometimes be the cause of poor turnouts. Who wants to play with a bunch of jerks? Chances are you were probably playing at Kolby's... and that place is no exception (although there are plenty of nice, likeable players there as well).

You are not the only one to have run-in's like this. I have too many stories to even begin to tell that are like this. But you handled it the proper way. As another poster stated - it's a way for them to try and save face after losing a match, although in the end it just looks transparent.

My advice - don't even bother gambling with him. Even if you win, there will always be an excuse or reason for their poor performance. It's a no-win situation. Take what you can from it and move on. There are better and more productive ways to improve your game (unless you just want to beat his ass and take his money  ).
