Anthony Suntay should not be allowed to commentate. This is World POOL Championship Not Basketball. They should keep Jay and Jerry or the Brits... the crowd should be jailed for being too noisy, flashing a camera and answering a cellphone.... I mean how many million times does Michaela Tabb or Nigel has to warn the crowd every minute...

Most probably "Kristo's" :D . Who knows how many millions of pesos were
transacted during that game.

I'm a Pinoy myself but i have to agree that the crowd is very lousy, embarassing to say the least... Nigel Rees has always reminded the crowd to settle down for EVERY SHOT a foreigner misses and a pinoy makes... they are very inconsiderate and does not know what a pool tourney ettiquete should be. :o I'm sure there are a lot of other players that dislikes the pinoy fans/crowd :( besides Earl...:D

I can not believe this ...

Li from China just broke, and the 2 ball was racked as a wing ball????? What's up with that. You NEVER rack the 2 as a wing ball, and it should be the tail ball.

we should blame Nigel Rees for that.. LOL. joke:D

What's the difference whether the two is racked as the wing ball or not? If it drops then the next highest ball replaces it. Really makes no difference as I see it.

The racks should all be thrown up randomly. It's part of the game.

WOW I think in the Philippines you have a Fantastic crowd ..It makes the games interesting ...just clapping and chearing when a Filipno opponent misses a shot is interesting enuff ...LOL

it has to be a better crowd thatn watch the womens tour
they clap and cheer every shot even on the mistakes

its like watching jerry springer:D

What I've learned is that they should rack the ball in random order everytime. Only the one and the nine have permanent positions. This is to avoid a situation where the one who breaks has figured out the table and how the balls run specially on a soft break. If they rack it in a particular order everytime, the lay-out on a soft break can be predictable.

^^ wow i need to play in women's tour then.... even i scratch the cue ball i am still being cheer ...anyway its really hard to put a cue ball in the pockets than those numbered balls ...how about flying balls out of the table .....LOL

Anthony Suntay is the worse commentor i ever seen. He is so BIAS., BIAS and BIAS. Look at the way he comment Wu when Wu convert to soft break. Damn......

As for the crowd, i understand. It is home ground. We cannot do much. They cheer loud on their country man we have no choice. But cheering when Wu foul a ball is totally unacceptable.

This year WPC is a failure.

The WPC a failure? Cmon. Other than the supposed biased announcer and the raucous crowd, what else makes you think the WPC is a failure? Because Kuo, Wu, or Yang didn't make the finals? Who's being biased now?

Better luck next year

The crowd is the way the are. It's home, it's Asia where pool is a big sport, what do you expect? If you consider pool a sport then be ready when playing away and playing against a home crowd favorite. But after the game, look at the people they chase the foreigner for autograph, pose for pics. The only thing annoying are the phones keep on ringing. They should expel the person who's phone rung. They could vibrate it or totally kill it off.

Our problem in the USA is different. We have no crowd. You are lucky to have a problem.

Could someone please fill me in with Suntay's comments/behaviour in the commentator's booth? What exactly were his comments about Wu converting to a soft break?

excellent post! a game becomes a sport when the fans can help determine the outcome

You can't believe the electricity that goes on inside that place. A shot can be so pressure packed for both locals and foreign player. The prospect of a loud cheer coming in whether you miss or make it can really bother you. Keeping in focus is an achievement in itself already. Look what happened many times to peña, efren, luat, corteza to name some of the locals...

Overall I think most if not all the foreign pool players like it here. Crowds really make them feel welcome. Plus they can get action easily from known and unknown players.

You know it would have been cool to see ESPN do a remote from One Side showing the players in action. Celebrate the gunslinger side of pool as well and show that after all it's still a workingman's sport.

This is definitely not basketball, and certainly not american crowd either,,this is the Philippines- the Mecca of pool...people here are very excited with pool,to say the least, specially rooting with the local players as americans are for the the football or basketball...I hope that pool crowd here in the U.S. can get as excited as the Pinoys..what's wrong with cheering when the non-local make mistake or something??I guess you will understand this if pool here in U.S. can be as popular as it is in The Philippines/Asia. And if that will be the case..then pool worldwide will take-off to where we hope it should be.

Now on cell phones and camera,,that's another thing,,,even i still quite amazed at the cellphones usage in the Philippines- to think this a third world country,,,you would think U.S. is more busy on cellphones--walk in trhe streets of manila and you will be surprised,,
