Worst Scratch Ever

I was leading 6-5 in a race to 7 in a weekly tournament, the winner goes to the finals, single elimination. I had this layout:

CueTable Help

The cloth on this table is very fast, and I opted to cut the 8 in with a touch of inside english to get fairly straight on the 9. This is what happened:

CueTable Help

I meant to have the cueball strike the second rail short of the side pocket and stop there. I guess I didn't apply enough inside, and the cueball went long. It hung in the side pocket for a second and then dropped. After that, my opponent broke, made a ball, then pocketed an easy 1-9 combination to win. I think the only way possible for that scratch to happen is for the table to have a drift near the side pocket. I was so pissed at myself I didn't even bother to test the table afterwards.

This goes down in my book as my worst scratch ever.

Lets hear some more stories. Maybe hearing something even worse will make me feel better

Cue,

Ok since i have no clue how to use the Wei table, lol i will just describe it.

I was playing on a 9ft triple shim a while back and had a ball in the kitchen, and pocketed the ball in the left hand corner, well the CB comes off the 1st diamond fairly straight with a bit of right english well the CB is rolling slow enough that it scratches in the side pocket.

Both me and the guy i was playing against laughed because it was a IMPOSSIBLE scratch lol. And it didnt hit the titties or anything it went clean.

Now the funny thing is for some reason i have seen this type of scratch on 7ft tables alot, when the CB comes off the 1st diamond and scratches on the short-side, side pocket.

All i hafta say is its a funny game lol

Cuetech,
you must have had a TON of inside english on that shot on the 8-ball to get the cueball to scratch in the side pocket like you diagrammed. shots like those are kinda funny, were you afraid you might scratch in the opposite side pocket if you didnt use some inside english?

i probably would have played the shot the same with you did, with inside english, might not have hit the ball that hard, and relied on my ability to pocket a little bit of a longer shot on the '9' for the win.

I was gambling with this guy one night, giving him the seven ball. I make the five ball and the cue is rolling down the table for the six away from any pocket, out of nowhere the cueball takes a sharp turn into the corner pocket. I look down, and what do I see? One of those big pieces of salt used for Soft Pretzels on the table. Whitey rolled over the salt and into the pocket. Needless to say I lost that game.

Mine is much MUCH worse, however, i dont think it was worth any money or in a tournament.

I used some bottom outside to drag the cueball behind the next ball i was to pocket. it rolled perpendicular to the side pocket, stopped perfectly in the middle, and somehow fell in. What a mystery!
