worsted vs standard cloth

I just purchased a used 7 foot table that will need to be covered with new cloth when I have it delivered and installed. Would you recommend that I stick with a standard cloth like Titan, or pay the extra money to upgrade to a worsted cloth like Tour Edition? I've read through some of the past posts and it seemed like some people thought a worsted cloth was too fast for a 7 foot table. Any thoughts on this? I'm just a recreational player, but I like the fact that the worsted cloths don't "pill", and apparently play a little more true. Any downside to going with worsted cloth?

You have it pretty much covered. With worsted cloth you get faster speed, more precision, good durability and no fuzzies.
Napped cloths like Titan have 1 speed - slow. The slowest of the worsteds is Simonis 860 which is considerably faster
than any napped cloth and would be my recommendation if you choose to go worsted. Simonis 760 would
be way too fast on a 7' table. It's ok to go with a worsted - just the right worsted based on speed.

Price is most often the reason people pick one cloth over another and napped cloths like Titan
(which is one of the best in napped cloth) are inexpensive. Consider tho, the cloth and ball set are the main "equipment"
that will impact how the table plays. In other words, you get what you pay for so if there is a down side it's price.

Worsted styles of cloth are not equal and are generally selected based on their speed or for the specific type of game played.

Rating the most popular worsted cloths for pocket pool in terms of speed from fastest to slowest:
Simonis 760
Tour Edition
Simonis 860HR
Velocity Pro
Simonis 860

i have a great deal on some cloth right now and it would save you money compared to the place you would be dealing with. look for my for sale ad. you get alot of cloth for not alot of dough

if you want perfect and don't mind spending the money go with simonis it can't be beat. If your strapped for $ and need to save but want to be happy go with the velocity pro. I got mine from dartman and tho I will be switching in the upcoming months to the simonis I was and am very happy with the money spent on the velocity and the performance of it.

How much does stretch effect speed?

I have a GC with 860, but it seems to play an order of magnitude slower than the local room I play in where they have it.

I see puckers under the rails and by the pockets. It also puckers up when bridging.

I'm sure this effect how it plays....any insight?

Thanks.

Run your hand across the cloth with slight pressure. It shouldn't move or bunch up.
If it does all the time it needs to be restretched.
If only sometime then you may have a humidity problem.
