Would alcohol cause tips to delaminate?

Just wondering, because I clean my shafts with isopropyl alcohol and I sometimes accidentally wipe the tips.

Definitely a possibility. Alcohol is a decent solvent, and I imagine it'd do a job on laminated tips.

Alcohol causes me to delaminate, and it doesn't take much either.

it will also dry out or tip and make it alot harder.

Alcohol may break the glue down so the layers no longer stick to each other.

You probably want to switch to using denatured alcohol, it has no water added. Much better for cleaning the shaft and I don't worry about it moistening the tip.JMHO

I would say, wrap the tip and possibly a part of the ferrule with electrical tape
before you apply you're alcohol. If you use multi layer tips, the layers are usually
glued and - well - alcohol could for sure be used to clean out some glues...

I would for sure not go close a tip with any liquid except when installing and
burnishing.

Moistening the tip isn't the problem. Alcohol has the potential to dissolve the glue between the layers of the tip altogether.

Alcohol is a solvent and glue will break down when it's exposed to solvents.
