Would you buy an Olhausen pool table?

Sadly... Yes I would buy an Olhausen... Matter of fact I bought an 8 foot table and stuck it my basement because it was available and I didn't do the due diligence to find what I really wanted....

Now if the question was would you buy an Olhausen again? Hell no..... For 9 years my olhausen was used for nothing but folding clothes.... I have used it for drills in the last few months but every time I am on it all I can think was I wish it was a 9ft Diamond or even a tightened up gold crown......
I recently bought a Olhausen table. I have been playing for 55 years, and it is without a doubt, the worst table I have ever played on. The olhausen rattle is a pain in the ?ss!

When I first picked up this hobby back in the summer of 1998 the Challenge of Champions was on ESPN. They were playing on the Olhausen Champion Pro. I figured if it was good enough for the CoC then it was good enough for me. I went to a local Olhausen dealer and started inquiring about a 9-foot Champion Pro. I mentioned that Oliver Ortmann was on ESPN the other day on the CoC playing on one and the guy at the dealership didn't even know who Oliver Ortmann was.

I left there. Eventually bought a Gold Crown IV. Still have it. Been told by many, MANY people I made the right choice. Having new Apple Green Simonis 860 put on it on Sunday the 23rd.

They have said that I can have it and I know it is in good condition with decent Simonis 860 on it. Unfortunately, it's only an 8 footer. But is it a quality table that I'm going to be happy with?

I've always wanted a 9 foot Gold Crown. Would you just buy your own table or accept the Olhausen? I'm not strapped for money so it isn't a money issue.

Decent table for a home table, but can’t compare to a Gold Crown. If $ isn’t the issue, I would hold out for a nice used 9’ Gold Crown.

In 1998 I was looking at a beautiful Olhausen and GoldCrown... I did not know anything about proper set up or how a table should play, pocket sizes, calibrated, etc. I always wanted a GC so that was final decision. Had no idea GC's were 1 2 3 4. The GC was a 4 at the time. I still love it like day 1. But the Olh was not a bad choice at all.

My experience they are a great home tables. Definitely not a cheaply made piece of furniture which is important when holding up a piece of slate lol but they are home tables and do play very easy imo. I had one before my diamond and the only thing I can say I miss is there is something special about the sound of a ball dropping into a leather pocket. Takes me back to being a kid playing at the ymca maybe.

I have an oversized (8.5ft) Olhausen Louis XIV that I like a lot because of its looks and playability. The pockets do "rattle" because of the cut angle from what I understand from a Dr. Dave's video so it actually plays more difficult than a Diamond.

If the Americana is the same quality as the Louis XIV, I would keep it. However, if you intend to play tournaments on 9 footers, you might want to get a 9 footer for just the "stretch factor" because balls are easier to reach on a 8 footer without having to use extension or bridges.

When I get my Fargo up to about 860, I'll think about getting a 9 footer 😆

You won't be happy til you get the gc although the olhausen is good

only way I'd buy one is if the leagues and tournaments I played in were played on Olhausen tables.

I used to practice only on 9 foot Olhausens and I really liked them but acclimating to other tables was a struggle at times. If all you do is play at home I think most people would be happy with one. I am more accurate with banks on them than any other table, I hate how Diamonds bank but I love how they play position which is just odd. When the Olhausen's were first installed they rolled off really bad along the rails until they got worn in.

I will repeat what I said on a much earlier thread on Olhausen tables that I believe their existence is due to conspiracy of psychiatrists and pool instructors, for the purpose of drumming up more business. That unfair and stupid pocket rattle is the stuff of nightmares.

Their tournament table plays tough, with the deep shelves. Rails are extremely accurate.
