How much would you spend if so? Earl Stickland 58" 20oz

Looking to replace my other standard CueTec that warped (a few threads down). I am a mediocre player looking to spend $100 max.

How do you like the hit? Or are you only concerned with blending into the crowd? JK :smile:
but that aside do you like the way it plays? No funny sounds or vibrations?
Can you change the weight If it doesn't suit you?
Can it be re shafted easily?

LAstly do you like the way it looks?

If you answer yes to the above looks like a winner for $100.00

The CueTec is the only "real" cue I've owned and I loved it so I'm just sticking with a known good :)

Feels like a smooth, solid cue. I prefer a heavier cue although I probably couldn't really tell you the difference between a 19oz and 20oz other than the obvious math :p

I am buying this one online so I can't say much about it.

As far as looks, I like the basic look of my current one shown above but the Strickland has a nice design. I'd prefer something other than the wrapped grip but I'm willing to give it a shot for the price.

Can get it for about $60 probably. If I don't like it or it's significantly worse than my current CueTec I figured I'd just re-sell and try again.

Or would it be a dumb idea altogether to buy a cue without shooting with it first?

i'd say $60 is a fair price if you like the cue, i wouldn't pay much more than that for it

It's on eBay from a reputable seller for $68 OBO. Could maybe get it for less than $60. It's from an eBay business so I'm not worried about lowballing :p

I'm a fan of the "Tru-Glide" on my current cue. Do all Cue-Tecs have that? I don't see a label on the shaft.
 
Well I'm a bit old school or probably just old :smile:
But I would personally never own a fiber cue.
Have you considered a used sneeky type cue?
Not as pretty but a more traditional cue.

My advice. Ask to hit a few balls with your friends cues save a bit more money.
And buy something thats not a composite fiber cue. JMO good luck.

the older cuetecs did not have the tru-glide coating. however, the tru-glide doesn't last that long, eventually it will wear off. so tru-glide or not, a used older cuetec will pretty much end up in the same state.

a lot of people hate the fiberglass coated shafts, saying they get sticky or hating the way they feel when hitting the ball. i think they're ok, i've found you can sand them to solve the stickiness problem. they are pretty durable and warp resistant. i would try a wood shaft if you haven't before though. you can get decent wood shafted cues for $100 or less, from brands like Players, Action, etc.
 
I use to sell alot of the older cutecs when they came out and were a great starter cue,the only problem I ever had with them was the collar on the joint kept loosening on a few of them and you could slide it right off.Besides that,I think a 100 bucks to a beginner player for what your offering is fine,plus they break well!
