Would you call this great condition?

To who?.......

For a customer service perspective. My god, you could have done the right thing after LYING about the condition of the cue, and been out of this mess for $20 ?? Holy Crap, are you kidding me. Nothing says customer service that he can't pay $20 to fix his own mistake, yes, the mistake he made in not listing the cue in the correct condition and that he admitted he failed to do so. But, he made more money because having the incorrect description increased the bidding. Just pathetic.

I must have missed it, when did he ask for $20? I recall a demand for (I think) $100 or $175,
something like that.
By the time he found out the repair would have been "slightly less" than first anticipated
hadn't he already said "I don't want your money", hell, he even turned down your money
(for obvious reasons).
So do you suppose that if he had taken your money that when he found out how much the
repair was actually gonna cost he would have returned your dough, or some of it?

I know you have a strong, and reasonable opinion, but I think you're wrong RJ. I think from the opening post
of this thread his whole position wreaked of dishonesty.

I never demanded anything? Why must you invent your own narrative? I asked Greg to cover the actual cost to repair the cue. That’s all. Nothing more nothing less.

It looked like a demand to me, though you did use the word "proposal", what is it that you said.? -

a $100 refund is a fair solution and should be acceptable, or something like that. You didn't seem to be asking anything,
you wanted, and he needed to see it your way or you'd do your very best to hurt his business.
At one point didn't you even threaten to bring the issue here if he didn't see things your way?
of course I may be misremembering, but still....

Seemed like a demand to me, but I suppose we all have our own take

Tell me, did the "request" for $100 turn out to be fair?

If you consider this “demanding $100” you might be a snowflake.

I see you're not referring to the other screen "asking" for $100
Maybe it makes me a snowflake, but this whole thing makes you a thief

but of course that's just my opinion, I'm sure that means so much to you

$300, eh?

A thief. Lol. I’ve stolen nothing. It would be fair to call me a chump since I fell for Greg’s scam.

It’s ok though cellophane. You don’t have to admit you are wrong. People will judge that for themselves.

And the guy that has been in the cue business for 20 years should have said, that's on the high end, but here's what I will do. Didn't happen. Poor customer service, plus inaccurately or possibly lying about the condition of the cue. No chance the OP can be the bad guy in this situation. But, of course, he should have known exactly how much cues cost to refinish, down to the exact dime.

In Chicago area, nobody is touching that cue for a $20, they have better things to do.

You're correct about the cost of a refinish differing between cue makers. My example was done more so as a favor.
My other friend would've laughed at $40, and then said add another $200.

Thank you for saying so. That is the entire point. How does the avg joe know what it is suppose to cost when guys in the billiard business don't know, nor do many AZB'ers. Yeah, my "buddy" will fix it for $20 does not fly everywhere.

Asking for a $100 was more than reasonable, and a counter offer could have come in to make it reasonable, and say, yeah, that's a little high, but I'll go $50 or $75 ?? Something, other than go pound sand, pack up the cue, go to the post office, stand in line, pay for the shipping, hope that it makes it back in one piece, and then wait that you are refunded every last dime. Yep, that seems reasonable to put a customer through. SOrry, not me, but I have higher standards than most it appears, but hey, what do I know, I've only been in the pool selling biz a couple of years, give me a few more, I'm sure I can start jerking people around one day like the Pro's do ;)

To be honest, I was not born with customer service skills, but I modeled mine after Seyberts and OB cues. If you can't be the best, then go home as they say !!

Yes, they will.
To say you stolen nothing isn’t a genuine statement. It’s more accurate to say you’ve wound up with nothing, but not for lack of effort.
You know, I find you have a reputation for this sort of thing, .... interesting......

RJ, why do take everything to the extreme? You don’t think a phone call and a photo or
two would have revealed the cost of a repair?

I will agree with you about one thing - I also find it odd that a person in this kind of
business for, what was it? 20 years or something like that, and with an outstanding
reputation and impeccable record, I mean how the hell could he have missed this.

Bill, how do you suppose he missed it? Oddly curious, don’t you think?

I have a reputation for this sort of thing? Really because I don’t recall being involved in anything like this before. Again, when facts don’t suit you, you just make something up.

Rather childish in my opinion.

Don't even respond to Celophane Paper. This guys gets banned a lot and is just looking for a fight. His last ban was for threatening one of my family members in NPR. He's a class act all the way.

This is my LAST post in this thread. As the baseball announcer Hawk Harrelson says, "It's Over" :)

If I recall correctly you're the one that first brought family into that discussion but that was
a long time ago.and I had no idea it was so personal to you. I apologized, you tried to - and really got to me
and I lost my head, I was terribly embarrassed, but I seem to remember you
received the hammer as well, well, that was a long time ago and I must have misjudged
your feelings, you gave me the impression that you felt it was in the past and I have
forgiven you as well. But still, you continue to make it personal and bring up ancient
history. Oh, well, RJ I still believe you have a good heart in there somewhere.
We do happen to disagree here though. I just think you're wrong and I think bill is
flat out lying. Even if you and he are done responding I do have to wonder why everyone
else's opinion is so important to him. We're all nobody, you guys don't even know us really.
Another oddly strange part of this thread...
...and in spite of what you might say or think, I'm not looking for a fight. I have tried to be
as polite as both of you have been.
And bill, early on in this thread it was posted that you do this sort of thing so the price
you agreed to pay and do pay in the end isn't as much as you actually pay. Anyways, you guys have a good day

No idea who posted that or why. Lots of liars I guess.

I haven’t forgotten to come back to post a picture, I’m still waiting to get the cue back. 2 week job has turned into 5 or so weeks and counting.

You might consider getting on the interwebs and sharing news of this unreasonable delay with other like enthusiasts.

Oh, wait...
