On the heels of (but by no means equal to the play of action report) I was wondering if you would pay for DVD's of people shooting pool at their house/pool hall.

The people would not be near the caliber we see on accustats etc. but it struck me that people who tape themselves and like to edit video could put together just racks of great shots, run outs, banks, etc.

Typically I would think that someone could shoot 100 games and edit it down to probably 20 or so that were good.
 
No, I don't think I would ever pay for that. There is too much good pool already available for free to pay for that.

there used to be a guy in Texas that would show up at the events and tape your match for you - the cost was about $20 for a VHS tape of the set. something like this would most definitely come in handy for individual players trying to improve/better their game, but i don't know of many local players I would pay for unless it was a great match-up. just my two cents.

Maybe you are misunderstanding.

These would be tapes of average players where only the best games are taken out. So in a sense you would be getting run outs, great shots, etc. without all the misses in there.
 
Nope, wouldn't pay for it or watch it. I work in a poolroom so I can watch bad pool all day long. NOW...I would pay to watch propoolvideo.com but, Jorge won't take any money. I would much rather pay to watch professionals who make very few mistakes and learn something than to learn bad habits from people who are not professionals.
 
I get about 10 hrs a wk on my DVR of pro pool. I can hardly keep up with that, and it is free. Just my opinioin.
 
If you were talking about pros practicing or something that might be different. I could edit my matches and make it look awesome. That doesn't mean people want to watch it.

You might as well take a pool video game and record some run-outs. People want to watch great players.

So you are basically saying you are a name w*ore and that you would rather watch pros miss shots than a compilation video of other people running racks or shooting impressive shots.

Pool video games are not real people (in case you didn't know)

My comment wasn't meant as an insult, but OK, if that makes me a "name whore," then so be it. I doubt I'm the only one. Video technology is pretty good these days, how come we don't see this amateur compilation idea replacing all those expensive star athletes? Use your logic skills to figure that out.
