I play in a league, a traveling bar league. The league is pretty much played on 9 footers, most are crappy or mediochre at best. Only 4 or 5 out of the 20-25 are worth a crap and I would only consider maybe 2 of them as GOOD tables. Most of the bars are crowded or have multiple trouble spots on the table and very poor lighting.
For the most part, the rules are the same as BCA... no problem there.
The format, however, is s**t. Basically, you start play at 7:30 (warm up is 7-7:30 for 6-8 people) and you may play a single game against a blind draw opponent early, or have to wait 2 hours to play your first game. Then, you may play again soon or wait another two hours (single game, blind draw). And finally, you have to play a doubles match anywhere between 10pm and 12pm, depending on how long all of the singles games have taken, again...single game/blind draw. Of course by this time you can pretty much garuntee that your partner is drunk (I don't drink during the week anymore). The doubles are home team's choice between regular and scotch.
There are really no prizes for the league other than a plastic and fiber board trophy or plaque. There is no money. There is no chance to play at a higher level... etc.
I'll tell you that personally, I'm sick of it after only two seasons and I'm thinking of just not playing next session and playing on my own at a local pool hall that I like. I just know that 100%, my game is getting worse di*king around with this s**t league. I get down on myself more when I get beat by a really crappy player because they got extremely lucky on one game. One game is all that matters in this league. It's frustrating because I know they couldn't win 2 or 3 straight games against me unless I really did shoot terrible.
So basically, would you play in this league? Wouldn't you rather play a format where you either had to race to a certain number of games or play single games against players in quick succession?
What are your thoughts?

Greg
