This is the real story. It is a niche tournament that no hopers will not go for but $1540 back on maybe $175 entry fee when you only had sixteen other people in the field is nice. I like it better than a 60-80 man field with added money and a fifty dollar entry fee with greens fee taken out.

Seems it may be a novel concept to some but the goal when playing for the cash is to get to the cash. This little tournament seems to offer a great shot of doing that.

Exactly. :)

You're right Hu!!!

and tap tap tap to a business person who comes up with a different concept to serve the sport, keep their establishment in business (ie; PROFIT from pool). The players wanted to pay and play or they wouldn't have. I personally wouldn't pay that much, but I don't have to if I don't want to.....you won't see me bashing the event.

CoCo.......I just don't see it, and I have to ask. WHY? WHY? WHY?
do you feel the need to argue, denigrate, and just generally cause a ruckus. If you do it to validate your viewpoint, then I think you will be hard pressed to find a match for yours. If you do it because you thrive on any response because you need personal contact, just try to be nice and not negative about everything and you may find some lasting friendships along the road. That is one of the best things about this game, you can meet a stranger on a table, play some games and find a freindship that may last. Turn a new leaf....give it a try....be positive for a day...about EVERYTHING, every thought, every word....if that's too long try for an hour and work up to it. It can change your life!!! Your negativity is a HUGE BLACK HOLE!!!!! Good luck

One of the tournaments CooCoo is talking about was played at the end of last month. $100 entry with $25 and $50 sidepots. 17 players entered and it paid 1/4 of the field. I have talked to a few people who played in it and not one of them *****ed about no added money or having to pay $.50 per game to play. The only person who was upset or *****ed about it was some loser who wasn't even eligable to play in it and even if he was wouldn't have played anyways.

Payouts with sidepots included were:
1st - $1540
2nd - $770
3rd - $360
4th - $100

Not too bad for a 17 player field.

CooCoo - I just want to congratulate you for spelling my name 3 different ways in the span of 2 sentences. Either you don't pay attention or you are really just that dumb. I am guessing a little of one and a lot of the other.

Nice payouts for 17 man field!

If eligible, I would have played for sure if it was in my area. I read the first 3 pages of this thread and skimmed the rest. I have learned a few things:
1) AZ has some good handicapped events
2) I sure would like to play Coco some money pool
3) If we did play I might win $10 tops

I second BVal's "exactly" and also agree with Grindz

I know, right? HaHa. Some parts have been entertaining. This calls for dramatic gopher moment after quoting Coco:

Half the people who voted yes probably did it just to spite you.

Damn, that's a lot of money for ONE ENTREE!! Does it at least come with side dishes?? And they're giving it away with a pool tournament?! :scratchhead:

I typically don't eat the food in bars because it's almost always fried and I try to stay away from fried food. On the other hand, I guess it depends on the bar and just how hungry I really was.

If it was just a $100 entry fee to the tournament, with no entree included, I'd really have to think about that...

Oh, ok. I probably would.

Now I have a question (and it isn't about the price of an entree)...

Would you pay $100 to play a round of golf?

That always cracks me up. People will spend $100 to play a round of golf where they are just playing for funzies - no chance to win any money back - and they'll spend more money for refreshments from the drink cart!

Meanwhile, you can't get those same people to put up $40 for an entry fee to a tournament where, if they do well, they'll actually get money back.

Personally, I would (and have - repeatedly) pay $100+ for green fees, and I'd pay $100+ for a pool tournament (and have - repeatedly). Why not? I don't understand what the downside is other than spending $100.

Take that death grip off of your money, Bruce. You can't take it to the grave with you. Have a little fun once in a while.

Really the poll numbers are inaccurate. I say this because many voted without knowing all the facts that came out later. Coco focused on $100 entry, tables not for free, no free food.

Lots of your "no" votes came before we learned:

That this tournament is a special handicapped event for the stronger players in each handicap and the payouts for a 17 player event would be:
1st - $1540
2nd - $770
3rd - $360
4th - $100
(with calcutta I take it).

You came with an agenda to knock the tournament and didnt present all the facts fairly, as such your data is not accurate and is slanted.

Knowing what you know now.......

Would you play, or stay away

How do you answer this poll?

Yes, I would play?
Yes, I would stay away?

Huuumm?

Sadly Jimmy M. you must not have ever had some of the Great Home Made Food Becky, and husband (the Ex Food People At Metro) made, as almost everything was made from scratch.

NOT JUST THE FRIED CRAP, many BAR put out! I too stay away from that JUNK some people call food.

I don't Golf, and see no attraction to the game, but Golf is very BIG IN ARIZONA. Like when they have the FDR Open in Snotsdale Annually.

I would say I do not think in my life time i would spend $100.00 to ENTER a Local pool Event either, unless i had a VERY GOOD CHANCE of CASHING IN!

What little I have has to last a very long time, and I am planning on being around to spend it over the next 30 year or so.

It is important enough for you to say 3 times then try and get it right.

Have fun playing pool at the shelter. Don't drink too much water.

Spelling was one of the subjects I got "D"'s and "F"'s on in School, so do get upset, as it causes high blood pressure.

My Drink of choice is ICE TEA:wink:

The polar opposite of you!!!

I guess you can't detect sarcasm even when it slaps you in the face.

So you think the idea stinks???....That is just more proof that it is a great idea...

IMO....anything that keeps you away from the event is a great idea...

BTW....Just out of sheer curiosity....Excactly how much did you pay Mike to un-ban you and allow you to sign up under another name???

You (CoCo Puffs) are by far the biggest loser I have never met.

I understand you to be a very sarcastic person, but I have learn to ignore most of what you say, as what you say is not very important to me.

Someday our paths will cross, than I will be able to see first hand your personality, and make a judgment about you.
