WOW #1 Amboyna Burl

Here's one more example of one I just finished. No real problems turning the points down, just took it slow with a sharp bit.

Yeah. Come to think of it Amboyna is an anomaly. I've seen them on Narra and they are easy to spot because of the bulge. Kinda reminds me of another beautiful anomaly - pearls.

amboyna #1

I'll try to get photos of my cue with amboyna oval inlays...since i saw amboyna, it has been my favorite wood next to purpleheart & cocobolo

Let's see how fast it gets deleted by Mike. :D

Does this mean i have to take it down :(

By the way...maybe you guys have pics of an amboyna burl plain jane you'd like to share... i simply love the wood

Deadstroke32, Thanks much for the compliment. That cue ended up getting a black leather wrap. I don't do to many wrapped cues, just not crazy about them. Currently I'm backordered 23 cues, but on occasion I build a few without a name on it. I have two in the works now, I'll send you picks when they are done. I use a g-10 pin as my primary pin, unless someone wants a different pin.

Zack and Mr. Dunkel,
Thanks for the examples. Thanks to Scott for asking questions. for this to work it needs to be a collective effort and I believe it is working so far. Wow #2 will be coming Saturday. It is not nearly as beatiful as this one, but I hope to get a little bit of discussion on it as well.

Tracy, This was a great idea! I'm enjoying it and am looking forward to the next wood of the week. By the way my first name is steve. Can't you give us a hint on the next wood?

Nice to meet you Steve. I already gave two hints, but here is another; there will probably be less input and more learning next week.
