I like a real solid hit to a cue, like it's one piece. What bothers me is a soft tip and if the shaft feels light. You know, I've got 7 custom cues that I really like and not one of them was under a thousand dollars. Then next to that I've got a 150.00 Cuetec Strickland model, the old time white one, that hits just as well as any of my customs. I was in the pool hall last night and my Cuetec is up on the wall. Haven't touched it for a loooooong time. I grabbed it off the wall and it felt like good old times. Everyone that has ever shot with my Cuetec says it doesn't feel like a Cuetec. It hits real nice.

and that Strickland white.........badass!!!

Mully,

I noticed you are in Japan, and I didn't fully understand your statement....Do you belong to a private pool hall, and do you leave your sticks at the pool hall on the wall?

I know I'm late but anyways... Congrats for your new cue! It looks very elegant and yet it looks very vibrant with that highly figured BEM. Great choice! It was great to read how much you like the second shaft you got with it!
Do you consider making a thread for your cues in the Cue Gallery?

Nah, Dale, it's a public place. That's the one thing about Japan that I love, at least my area of it, crime is almost non existent. Granted, there is crime, but I leave my cues at the pool hall all the time. Not locked and not hidden away. No one is going to touch them.

Actually, there is already a thread with my cues in there. Nothing super impressive like Tikkler has but it's a decent little collection. The photos that are there right now have the ebony/snakewood Mottey that I traded for this SouthWest. I'll need to do some new photos.

Even if no one steals it, aren't you afraid that other people are going to play with it and damage it somehow? Or is that not done in Japan?

Thank you for the link, I must have skipped that one - I am so tired due to my final exams that I can hardly see... nevertheless I must browse AZB :)

Very nice cues you have there, my favourite is the Mottey in the middle. That has got to be a true player.

It's good to hear that in Japan you can be so sure about your values and that no one touches them. In Hungary you have to hire cabinets or take your stuff with yourself.

A little off, sorry: I've read somewhere that there is an option to hire custom cues for a day or so in Japan, is that true?

Not at all. No one will touch it, and even if they did they'd be careful with it. I hate to say it but our Japanese friends have more respect for each other, and each other's things, than we do.

Well, I've never heard of that but it wouldn't surprise me if they do things like that in Tokyo or Osaka. Japan is really weird in it's own way. I can't even begin to explain it, you have to live here. Even visiting isn't enough.
