the snooker situation got sorted out in a business like manner, as often is the case in the market world you find solutions that both profit from. WST doesn't want to ban star players that draw audience, and the chinese promotor doesn't want to have its event being a point of conflict. the chinese have been starved of snooker up until a couple of months ago (since covid), so that they want to put on events is understandable and also positive.
WPA is bureaucratic minded and don't work that way. they want to be, in their own words, "the authority", and are trying to assure this by bans and collaboration with rogue governments. i don't see a simple solution there.
