I never paid any attention to the WPA when I was out every night playing for money. Since I joined AZ all I see is this fighting between the different orgs., promotors, and tours.

What is the history of the WPA and when and who died and left them boss?

Just to get the ball rolling.

I believe they are part of an initiative to create a global body for billiards partially with the purpose of getting pool in the olympics.

for decades WPA gets 5% sanction fees in tournaments now they raise it to 7.5%...and if a player gets unpaid, will they do something about it? any safeguard from them?

Just one of their purpose but http://www.wpa-pool.com/index.asp?content=localnews&newsid=90

So, the WPA is more of to maintain uniform rules of play for different formats in pool and to keep a calendar of events. Now, are they dong a good job at these? Let us know your opinion. Is it worth the 7.5% that they now will be charging promoters/players?

WPA too created some safeguards for the the organisation against prying eyes. WPA is composed of continental members which then in turn composed of country members. What this mean is that if bandido wants to get some info about where the sanction fees are used then he is first required to contend with his country association, the BSCP, then the BSCP will have to ask APBU then APBU to the WPA. Red Tape galore. :) My question may get lost somewhere in that maze.

I guess I'll just assume that WPA spends for their website. Which cohort private entity gets this web creation and maintainance contract and how much commission for the referral, I don't know. Ahh, what other expenditure does this 7.5% (formerly 5%) go to?

Just like the Bilderberger Group... trying to create a new world order!
Billiardberger Group?????? *GASP* AAAAAAAAAAGH!!!

Jk... lol.

Although, I wouldn't mind pool being in the Olympics.

Wasn't there a pool exhibition at the Beijing Olympics? I believe Reyes was playing in it...
