WPA & One Pocket

With the introduction of the first European one pocket.org tournament this week, considering that WPA sanctions various world title events in different divisions such as 9-ball, 8-Ball, 10-ball, 14.1. I was wondering with One Pocket now becoming more intercontinental and popular in European countries, some day will there ever be a "WPA World One Pocket Championship"?

Already got a 1p WC and its called 'The Derby City Classic'. ;) Seriously i couldn't care less about those stuffed shirts known as the WPA sanctioning anything.

I doubt you'll ever muster enough viewership for something like that unless the players are playing for their own money.

I believe one current requirement for any WPA World Championship is $100,000 in added money. There's also the smaller problem that the WPA has no official rules for one pocket.

The "governing body" of North American pool needs to step up to the plate and do their job for professional pool.

The WPA sure didn't do much for pocket billiards at the recent World Games 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama. There was a volleyball person commentating on a snooker match, and she didn't even know the rules of the game. What was the WPA doing down there? Enjoying the scenery?

The WPA gets paid a sanctioning fee by tournament promoters. What do they do for that sanctioning fee in USA? Oh, wait. Do we even have any $100,000 events sanctioned by the WPA in USA by American tournament promoters? If so, how many?

Europe and Asia are rocking and rolling in professional pool. Go on the front page of AzBilliards News and look at all the photos of non-American professional pool players. The existing lot of American professional pool players is dwindling.

The "governing body" of North American pool needs to cultivate and grow professional pool here in the States. Those who think the WPA is needed for the so-called "sport," well, what about the Billiard Congress of America? I would be interested to learn what they are doing for professional pool. After all, they are representing USA, so I thought. There is a void here that does not seem to be getting addressed.

Pool in USA will soon be on the same level as croquet. Recreational pool in USA is doing great, and that satisfies the governing body of North American pool's industry members. Professional pool seems to have been orphaned.

Bye-bye, American pool pie.

Personally I don't know if this is a requirement or not. Maybe its only a requirement for the World 9 ball? We are having the WPA World Artistic Pool Championships next month and its not $100,000 added. I would doubt pyramid or blackball gets $100,000 added either.

Their benefits are pathetic. Someone pay me to show up in a spiffy get-up and act important. I promise I will do absolutely nothing.
Wpa points, oh boy!
Seriously, who is giving them $?

Instead of the 50 page answer.

This started when commercial space became too expensive to house "pool only" rooms and it's been downhill ever since and in the end the legacy that the US had for Pool has gone with it. The answer here is hometown rooms to regrow the infrastructure of interest we once had, which means new business plans for rooms to exist. When pool is only in establishments that serve alcohol that cuts off the interest of the youth. This is why the league system has become so important in the lifecycle of the sport here in the states. If they weren't here, there would be no feeder program. Pool is just very different today and I'm not minimizing what you said, but things have really changed in the last 40 yrs. It's unreal how much.

Then what is the function of the Billiard Congress of America, the governing body of professional pool for North America? What are they governing? I just don't get it.
