Xue Zhenqi is a beast. Zhu Xihe is great to watch. He didn’t do so well against He though. The alternate break is a bitch. Ao Hongming is decent. Ma Chenchao a great Shanghainese player. Was really rooting for Fu to top filler but he blew it. Many of the top Chinese battled hard. A lot of them had to go through stage one. Lu Hui Chan, Kuo Po Cheng, Liu Ri Teng etc. I was surprised by the direct entries to stage two. Stage one was bloody strong field to begin with. So those players who qualified via that route will no doubt be fatigued
Yeah Xue Zhenqi just won two matches 9-1 to qualify for elimination stage

Filler will have to get past Yang Zhiping to survive. Yang Zhiping (780) is not on the Asia top 150 list we just posted because he has 284 games and needs 300--so after this tournament he will be. He did not make it out of stage 1 either of the last two years--but looks like he's knocking on the door.

never heard of xue, but he's on the tv table now against lechner. while he plays real good, he doesn't break nearly as good as max does

His break on the Chinese table is one of the best. I was surprised by the difference in the Chinese table. Both cut and power break aren’t as dialed or strong. His jumping is also weaker on the American table.

I’d put money on him against anyone on a Chinese table. He’s a crowd favourite in China, as he had none of the whole “billiards education” just an ordinary guy who slays it at pool. Good sense of humour too.

I once asked him about nerves (after destroying me 9-2) in tournaments. His reply “gamble for 10,000$ one time, then tournaments mean nothing” 😂

who is sun?

i like pags vs dang on the tv table. both are a bit unorthodox (and there's a shot clock so alex has a good pace).

Ignacio v Gorst was good!
I watched this match and always study the referee’s. Someone trained them to walk (or even run) to make sure they are behind the player shooting and out of sight. Totally unnecessary, distracting and actually puts them out of position to see the entire shot clearly, often blocked by the player who is shooting. Plus they are often navigating around a player on the next table and that could be a distraction to them as well.

When there were some close shots (cueing over a ball or on a close hit) they were out of position to make the correct call and I saw them squatting down to get a view when they should have been on one side or the other for a much better look.

Other than that they looked good, racked well, handled the time clock and kept the score.

Carry on

P. S. Actually watching the replay of the Gorst-Ignacio match. Both are doggiing it big time, missing hangers back and forth. Whew!
