WPBA 2006 - the SJM Awards (I need advice)

Let me paraphrase myself. Pam Treadway is a real rookie in Pro Pool. XTP is not. If you do not consider that which is the norm in many sports, XTP it is.

Point was understood before. No doubt, this would explain the choice of Tracie Hines as 2005 WPBA Rookie of the year over fellow rookie Kelly Fisher, who had a much better year that even included a win.

As you note, though a WPBA rookie, Pan is not a rookie in cuesports, so, in that sense, the accomplishments of Treadway are more impressive. I'll probably give an SJM award to both.

Allison Fisher's wn over Kelly Fisher means that Player of the Year is still up for grabs. Karen Corr, with four titles (NC, Florida, Peoria, Challenge of champions), which could become five by later today, has the inside track.

Finally, Kelly Fisher finishes the WPBA season ranked #3.

Thanks to LionelP4 for clarifying the result of Allison Fisher vs Kelly Fisher.

This is gettng interesting. It's Allison Fisher vs Ga Young Kim in the finals of the WPBA Nationals.

The race for WPBA Player fo the year is lookig like a nailbiter. Should Allison win this, this will be the picture:

Allison 2006 Titles
WPBA Michigan City
WPBA US Open
WPBA Nationals

Karen Corr Titles
WPBA North Carolina
WPBA Florida
WPBA Peoria
Challenge of Champions

If it comes down to this scenario, Corr will have 4 titles to Allison's 3, but Allison will have the more important tiles, inclusive of the US Open and the Nationals.

If it comes down to this scenario, who is your pick for the SJM WPBA Player of the Year award? I'm really struggling here. Help!

I'd love to see an award for Heart ... Helena Thornfelt would be my pick...her come back against Jasmine in Vegas and her actual selfless demeanor!

cuechick,

I don't know if I can agree, She is certainly a very tough competitor in tha late rounds but she seems to lose her cool when she gets behind in the early rounds.

The more I think about Rookie of the Year, the harder it is to get away from Pan Xiaoting. In her eight events, she finsihed in the top 16 in all eight events! Simply amazing.

Pam Treadway played well this year but did not have only one top five finish, at the US Open. Pan Xiaoting had three top fives (5th at Michigan City, 5th at Florida and 3rd at Peoria) and, on reflection had one of the best rookie campaigns that I can ever remember. The only WPBA players having had better rookie campaigns that I can think of since the formation of the WPBA Classic Tour in 1993 are Jeanette Lee, Allison Fisher, Karen Corr, Kelly Fisher and Ga Young Kim.

Still, like Ross Perot, I'm all ears.

I completely agree with your assessment of Pan XiaoTing. This week in the year ending tournament she finished in the top 16 with 9-7 losses to AFisher and KCorr.

The verdict is in and the winners have been selected. See the thread-opening post for the names of the winners.
