WPBA and ESPN

I noticed another thread had been posted about the state of professional pool. The familiar point was made again about how pool is not a good spectator sport. This brings to mind that the WPBA (as I read somewhere) PAID ESPN (?)to air their various tournaments, supposedly for the exposure. I
wonder if this is still the case, and if it is having the effect that the WPBA was looking for? I watched the 2008 Challenge of Champions yesterday on TV. I think they aired 3 matches in a row during the day.

This is a rumor that has been spread for years...and is nowhere close to true. The WPBA pays production costs for every show...but we do not pay ESPN anything to air the shows. Never have...never will.

A Question...

Does ESPN then pay the WPBA for the presentation rights? Or does the WPBA get some of the ad time to sell? How does it work?
