Hello from Canada! I arrived this evening and have gotten settled.

There are alot of new faces in this tournament. Canada has a good number of players. It definitely feels good to be at a tournament. We had way too long of a break. Although, I have to admit, I'm nervous. Anyway...on to the draw.

I play Bonnie Coats at 12:45. Bonnie plays good. She runs the Ladies SPIRIT tour in Florida. It is good to see her playing in a pro tournament. I have only played her once, a couple years ago in Amateur Nationals. We will see how it goes.

Melissa Herndon plays fellow Californian Jane Fujinaga. I'm sorry I can't remember what time she will be playing.

Jennifer is playing Melissa Morris from California. I didn't get a chance to see who Lisa is playing.

Hopefully the brackets will be up soon at www.wpba.com so you can all keep up with your favorite players.

I will be back tomorrow to keep everything updated.

Take care,
Sarah

Man, it's the little things that impress me and that was just cool. You rock! Although, I'm not sure if it's my dumbness or not, but I almost didn't realize that was a link. :o Duh! Don't miss it folks.

There...I am done with my giddiness.

I do solemnly swear that I will not purposely attempt to change the subject of this thread...now back to you Sarah......

Hi everyone. The tournament has started out good so far. I played a pretty good first match. I won 9-5. I started out great but got a little lazy in the middle and finished strong. Hopefully I can stay strong through the whole next match, it will be a tough one I'm sure. I play either Jeri Engh or Laura Smith.

Melissa beat Jane Fujinaga. I don't have a score to report. Jennifer beat Melissa Morris 9-5 and I believe Lisa won her match. I was warming up for my match while she was playing so I am not certain. A good start for all of us AZbilliards girls.

Another match to talk about was the Kelly Fisher vs. Allison Fisher match. I will let everyone know, Kelly can play some 9ball. She did not miss a ball and jumped out to a commanding lead 8-2. Allison did not let that get her though. She showed why she is the number one player in the world and came back to win 9-8. This was definitely a classic match and a great debut for Kelly Fisher.

I will be back with another update tonight. I play at 9pm.

Take care,
Sarah

Well, bad news. I lost my match to Laura Smith 9-7. I missed two balls the whole set and they proved to be very important. There were alot of combinations throughout the match. Laura goes on to play Monica Webb. I play the winner of Sueyen Rhee and Gail Lave at 5:30 pm tomorrow.

Melissa and Jennifer both won their matches tonight. Unfortunately Lisa and I lost.

Some other interesting matches tonight were Dawn Hopkins vs. Karen Corr. Dawn was winning the match 7-3 but Karen came back to win 9-7. The top two players have shown their comeback power today! Another match was Alice Rim vs. Monica Webb. Alice was ahead in the match 8-6 and Monica cameback to win 9-8. She made a great out to win. Helena Thornfeldt vs. Line Kjorsvik was also a 9-8 thriller with Helena winning.

Take care,
Sarah

Still cheering for ya, sista! Go get 'em.

What a long day...at least it seems like it. :)

My first match was against Sueyen Rhee. It was a tough match because Sueyen is one of my good friends. She has helped me alot on my pool path. It was a very ugly match for her. I think she used up her bad luck for the next year all in one set. I ended up winning the match 9-1. I played alright but I really felt bad for all of the bad luck she was having. I guess that is the way the balls roll sometimes though.

Second match was Alice Rim. Another tough match because I have been good friends with Alice since I was 13. We both got some good rolls and we both got some bad rolls. It really wasn't a well played match for either one of us. Alice was ahead 5-2, then 6-5, then 6-6, then I was ahead 8-6, then 8-8. The last game was an ugly one. Alice missed the 3 ball. I ran down to the 7 and got bad position. Not bad position but I forgot that I am right handed and left great lefty position. I tried to play safe, but it was a bad one. Alice missed the 7 and left me out. It was a shaky out, but it worked.

Other matches that were interesting were the Jennifer Barretta vs. Jeanette Lee. Jennifer won 9-5.

Hsin Huang beat Gerda Hofstatter 9-7.

Ga-young Kim was down 7-2 against Allison and fought back to a 8-8 match but missed a carom/safety and Allison ran out to win 9-8.

Melissa Herndon was down 7-3 against Vivian Villarreal and came back to 8-8. Melissa broke and ran to the 3 and missed. Vivian ran out for the win.

Sarah Ellerby and Julie Kelly also went 8-8. Sarah looked to be breaking and running out but missed the 5. Julie ran out for the win.

So 11 am tomorrow is coming up really quick. I have to get some sleep so I can take on Gerda tomorrow.

Take care,
Sarah
