WPBA Nationals

Not only that, someone tell me which qualifiers she won to play in the WPBA events. Anyone, anyone? If I recall correctly, she won a qualifier after she played in 1, 2, or 3 wpba events already... I didn't know that was possible! I thought the only way to get to get your foot in the door was to win qualifiers. Please, someone tell me I'm wrong.

Hey Melinda and Cuechick,
It looks like Yu Ram won the spirit tour qualifier in september. The flyer says it was for the Wpba tour championship in Hollywood. Not sure how she got the MIP for the wpba but she has been playing on the spirit tour pretty regularly. But I only see one win for this year. My guess is she finshed in the top of some of the spirit tour events which were probably won by pros who didn't need the qualifying spots and Yu Ram might have been next in line. I know that was the case with Michele Monk in a few events also.

I believe she played in 2 or 3 events last year.

Really, which events? Nostroke goes to almost every event and he has already concurred she did not. I think your mistaken.

Possibly, though, I do remember her winning only one, this one that just happened. I am sure that is possible... I really don't have issue with her getting a spot. I do think that winning MIP should go to someone who has put in a little more time and moved up the ranks, like Caroline Pao or Anna K. not someone that has only played in a few events.

Sorry Cuechick, I dont go as much as i used to. It seems i got old real fast. In fact im 30 miles away right now and cant get up the energy to go.

She may have played in 2 last year but to me that still doesnt warrant 'most improved' She just hasnt been around long enough to establish a valid 'baseline' off of which to improve imho. Nerves or tough draws may have been the reason for less than stellar finishes in her first events.

sarah is hot and she will beat monica.

I dont think so.... This is Monica's time... Monica is my sparring partner, and I'm wishing her the best..
Going undefeated through that bracket is incredible..
Val, Anna, Eva, Jennette, Karen and Vivian. I hope Sarah wins her match against Kelly.. Who wants to play Kelly in a final..Noone..
Best,
Ken

I know a few things about the qualifiers but am not sure how this applies in Yu Ram Cha case because I have not see any of her regional results from the last 2 years.

1. She won a quaifying event or was the highest finishing player in that event able to want or take the spot.

2. In her tour points race last year on her regional tour she finished near the top. The points leader after the year gets a years exemption to go to all the events. If this player chooses not to go to all or certain events then it's offered down the line.

3. I'm not sure if sponsors exemptions exist in the WPBA but if so that could be another way.

In my experience the WPBA is very strict on making sure the invites are done in a standard way.

All USA final? - I don't belive so!

With Kelly 5-0 up on Sarah, it isn't looking too likely unless Sarah has a tiger in her tank!
Looks like Monica is going to have to face a very on form Kelly in the final.

Toodle pip!

Since u are Monica`s sparring partner u may know the answer. I always wonder why Monica takes too much time to shoot long shots even though she is a sharp shooter like johny Archer and makes those shots ?

I thought this was her first year playing in any events, how did she improve, or from when? Sorry, I don't really get that...?

According to the WPBA stats, Yu Ram Cha played in the the Florida Classic and the Enjoypool.com (BCA) event. She finished the 2007 season tied for 66th.

The BCA event is not a true WPBA event-In fact the BCA has Sh#t canned it for the future.

They could invite any player they chose and always aimed for a more international field FWIW.

Well, Hard to find many people that take longer shooting a straight shot then Johnny..
Monica bears down alot more on the long ones.. This is what makes her a sharp shooter.. I think Monica has stepped up her pace a bit from years past..
All TV matches will make anyone slow down also.. Except for Vivian..
Best,
Ken
