WPBA Pool on ESPN?

I read here on the forums that the WPBA pays ESPN to broadcast their matches.

Apparently their money is no good or EPSN2 can't be paid enough to broadcast them because today from 4 to 7 was scheduled WPBA Pool. Turning TV on around 5 looking for something to watch I seen pool listed. Tuning in they were wrapping up a soccer match and then they showed college bowling. No pool.

Decided to watch it hoping that pool might come on. It never did but it was more interesting , exciting  and there were more spectators. Maybe ESPN has it right. :shocked2:

And to add insult to injury Brunswick was a sponsor.

I noticed the same thing,,but have not checked lately to see if it on. I thought maybe the soccer game took longer than expected.

Sometimes events like pool are scheduled so that if there is a time over run , like in the soccer , they can join in progress , or just cancel it altogether , with low viewer numbers they aren't worried about pissing off that many people . WPBA may just pay for so many telecasts .

I always thought that the WPBA paid ESPN to put the matches on too. An ex WPBA board member said on AZ that they didn't pay them. I think after the original air date they can use the mactces as they (ESPN) sees fit. Johnnyt

I recommend that everyone send an email to ESPN and complain about the lack of pool events. It probably won't do any good but at least that would know that some people want to see pool.

Yeah- They dont straight out pay them to air it- The WPBA pays the Production costs and then ESPN and the WPBA do some kinda deal on the Advertising revenue. Never quite got specifics on that.
