Well, I took a lot of pics, most of which were very bad. Unfortunately, I didn't really get any decent pics until the tournament was almost over when some of the people I had met gave me some tips about how to improve the pictures. I'm including some of the bad ones of the AZ ladies since that's all I have...lol. Here they are:

I think you captured the determination in Kelly Fisher's face in the final matches nicely. Watching it live it became very noticable towards the end of the finals that she was really staring those balls down. I don't think any of them would have dared not drop!

Yeah, I was talking more along the lines of the pics of Ewa, both Sarahs, and Melissa. Trust me, I had some that were really, really bad. These are some of the best of the 7-800 pictures I took...lol. I didn't post any of the ones that I sent to a guy who was doing a story for Inside Pool since there is the smallest chance that they may get published. After I find out what the fate of those are I will post some of those which have some pretty good shots in them as well.

Dan, I know what you mean. Kelly's play on Sunday was some of the most impressive I've personally seen. It was amazing to watch someone that focused and that much in the zone, even though I was rooting for Gerda the whole way in the last match.

The photos were very nice. Don't feel bad if IP doesn't use any photos because I and many other people have sent them photos for stories and nothing happened. The best you may get is for them to use one nice photo
I hope you do. Also check IP online photo gallery for your photos too.

They came out pretty good. I assume that you're not allowed to use flash while taking pictures... So low light conditions usually means longer shutter speeds, which will cause blurring when there's a lot of movement. It also allows for blurring from involuntary hand shaking and what not. I suggest getting a monopod for added stability when shooting.

If you're using a regular point and shoot digital camera, also note that it takes time for the sensor to capture the image.. So after you press the shutter button, even though you think the shot is taken, keep still for a little while longer. This will give additional time incase of long shutter speeds. If you're shooting an dSLR/SLR camera then this is not an issue.

Yeah, the monopod was a suggestion that I got there as well. I will probably pick one up before the Peoria event. I use a Nikon D70 dSLR so the delay isn't a problem for me. It wasn't until the third day of the tourney that I was talking to someone and they told me about adjusting the ISO settings to reduce the shutter speed in low light conditions...lol. I definitely need to take some photography classes!

Yeah, you got a big fancy digital SLR ;-) but dear old Ashi almost got kicked out for shooting his one right as Vivian was playing a 9 Ball because with you could clearly hear the mirror slap across the (otherwise) silent room. At least with a non-SLR camera you can turn all the noises off and shoot silently.

However if you are going to insist on using that thing there are several specialist books you can get now just on the D70, you may want to check some out.

Shame we never got to play again this week Zack, but don't worry, I'll only charge you 50% interest a week on that $1 you owe me!
