Wrapless to Wrapped???

I would like to know, can you add a wrap to a cue that is originally wrapless?

I am sure this is a silly question, but I guess what I am thinking is the wrap is flush with a cue built that way, but would be raised when added to a wrapless stick???

Thanks,

Scott :confused::confused::confused:

yup

they sure can. iv seen it done lots. but pics of the cue would help in case of any reason beond me it could not be done.

When a wrap is added to a wrap-less cue, I machine a "wrap slot" which is the same thickness as the wrap material so that it becomes flush with the cue.

Good Cuemaking,

Scott, you are correct in thinking the wrap is flush with a cue built that way.

Adding a wrap to a wrap-less cue could be done several ways, one is as simple as adding a rubber grip over the existing cue without cutting a wrap groove.

Another way would be to cut a groove in the handle area and install the wrap, be it linen or some other material. This is a procedure that can be done by any competent cue maker, and expect a healthy, but fair price tag.

If your cue has short points it will look silly with a wrap.

If our cue is badly warped, forgetaboutit.

There is a big difference between an average wrap and a really good wrap.
A guy that only does an average job on a new cue could devalue your cue.
A guy who does super nice wraps will make you happy. Do your homework.

This may be a good time to buy a new cue. Just sayin'

Bad Idea...

I think this could be a bad idea. I have only seen a pic of the actual cue, a burgandy curly maple P2 Predator.

I think it may be too pretty as is to take any chances.

Weight and balance I guess might be affected too???

Like I said...maybe a bad idea.

Thanks much.

Scott

Don't think weight and balance would be affected noticeably.

I'd be happy to do the work for you. PM me with the type of cue and what your are thinking as far as color of wrap. I'm not allowed to post prices but it would be just shy of $75.01.

Look...

Let me have a look at the cue. I am assuming I have never had one this good...all the way around...(have not had much)!

It is Predator P2 burgandy. I would want the wrap no more than 12"...8"...6". At least I think!

A cue with a non standard wrap length looks odd because, well it is and will be tough to sell.

Any of the guys trying to help you in this thread will treat you right.
