Wrapped v wrap less cues

I don't want to pay money to cover up good looking wood. I always thought all wraps will eventually come loose some where. Irish linen does not interest me but some of those elephant and other exotic wraps have a cool factor to me. Kind of like exotic skinned pistol holsters holding a good 1911 Govt. Mod. I wonder if Irish Linen might not be better for a hot and humid place where hands get sticky. Not much of an issue here in South Central Alaska. In the end if you like it go for it.

Funny you should mention that. That is what I do as a hobby.

Thanks guys. I figured it was just personal preference. I have a early Joss, new Schon that both are wrapped, and a Meucci that is sealed and like them all. My budget doesn't allow the real high end cues, but those Jacoby's sure look nice wrap less.

All mye cues are wrapless. The first cues I had was with standard linen, I have never been comfortable with the feel of linen.
Leather can be smooth or sticky, never found something that felt right.
The only wrap I have liked is the stingray wrap on my old jacoby.

I'd say the odds are pretty good that the first cue most people played with was wrapless.
I prefer them and love my wrapless Schon.

In the end it;s always going to be a personal choice.

Linen for me. I tried wrapless, as it sounds good in theory, but I have sweaty hands sometimes and it just didn't work with wrapless. Linen has always just felt right to me.

I keep my hands clean and usually have a slightly damp paper towel in my back pocket just to wipe my hands after a few shots. Even so, a glossy finish on a cue almost always feels sticky to me. I prefer not to use talc, so I have dulled the finish on a few cues. They feel less sticky even with no talc.

Irish linen feels good, and with a thin coat of water-based varnish, the linen wrap lasts a long time.

Whatever works for you is fair.
