I realize a major percentage of cuemaker. use a sewing motor attach to their Lathe to do irish linen wrapping on their cue.

But the question is- who use a separate wrapping machine or setup in their shop for wrapping cue? Which do you feel is better? Plus if you use a separate machine or setup, can you post a picture!

As I sold my shop companion I am making one to do this. spin shafts for wraps and cleanings and not too much else. Simply stuff laying around and a good dc motor and speed control. When I get it done I will post some pics.

I don't see why anything else would be needed, myself. I re-wrapped a cue one night and had my boy time me from start to finish. I use an old 12X37" Chinese lathe that I bought for around 50.00 in the late sixties and the complete job from removing the wrap to setting the cue aside fully pressed and sealed was 13 minutes. It takes less than a minute to actually install the wrap onto the handle. Why would a special machine be needed? Just how much time could be saved? I have literally made hundreds of thousands of dollars on this lathe. For years I used it for installing tips, wraps, sanding and polishing shafts, sanding cues for refinishing and rubbing out and polishing once the finish has been applied. It's the true work horse in my shop.

I use my engine lathe to wrap cues. I set it around 700 - 900 rpm and let it rip. It takes a few tries to get it down but is real easy when you get the hang of it. Chris.

I use a wood lathe for polishing and wraps only just a cheap lathe...
