WTB: 5/16x18 Butt Only (possibly full stick, see updated details)

Nevermind, I ordered a new Players to hold me over for now. Thanks for the offers guys :thumbup:


Just a feeler to see what's out there, without spending too much. Flat face (non-piloted) 5/16 x 18.

Trying to get back into playing after a few years of barely touching my stick, my old shaft was slightly warped and needed a new tip, so I used it as an excuse to pick up a Predator Z2. Went out last night to test it out and noticed that some how the butt of my cue is warped too :confused:

Doesn't have a huge impact, but bugs me just a bit on certain shots, depending on where I hold the stick

I prefer a 19-20oz stick and like linen wrap for the grip best, but will consider others if they're interesting enough ;)

I might consider a full stick, for the right cue at the right price. I have a friend with a Muecci that could use a new shaft
Butt only would like to stay under $100. Full stick price limit will depend on shaft, but most likely under $200

Best bets honestly both can be cheap and play well for the price.
 
Thanks jmf. Forgive a stupid question.....but what's the difference between piloted and non-piloted? (Nevermind that, I realized the answer. Updating the original post to specify non-piloted)

The original stick was indeed a Players. Bought it back in the mid 90's...has some sentimental value to it, this is the stick I really learned to play on.
But when I looked at Players as a replacement, most of their stuff looks like cheap crap now compared to this one lol

It's just frustrating. If I had realized this earlier I would've bought a whole new stick, instead of spending this much on just a new shaft :rolleyes:

I've got this list I found of compatible cues:
Action
Ginacue
Huebler
Judd
Longoni
Meucci
Players
Tad

But, to be quite honest, the only ones in that list that I know anything about are Players and Muecci. I'm still searching based off that list, but offers are good too :thumbup: I'll update this if/when I find something

edit: to answer Larry's comment below, without "bumping":
That was just the list taken from where I bought the Predator shaft, for what cues it would fit. If anyone has more I'm all ears :thumbup:
(On the cheaper end. I'd like to keep costs down for now, until I decide how much I'm going to get back into playing)

Thats some list. Ginacue, Tad and Judd, in the same category as Action and Players cues. You left out Szamboti and Balabushka.

That is a piloted, essentially if there is anything coming off the joint of the shaft it will not sit on a flat face cue.

If you look from the side a flat face looks flat nothing pertruding from the joint end of the shaft while looking at the piloted there will be a little piece where the female end of the screw joins into the butt end.


I hope this makes some sense....

jmf: yes, your description makes sense. And despite the fact that a lot of the new players seem to have a piloted shaft, my older one did not. So, to clarify, it definitely is a flat faced/non-piloted 5/16 x 8 joint that I'm looking for

Again, I'd like to do this cheaply for now, while I'm still 'getting back into the game'....I'm open to going a little higher if I like the cue enough...but, yeah, I'm not spending thousands here....that was just a compatibility list copied directly from one source.

If nothing can be found here, no big deal. I'll keep using the butt I've got and look more seriously later. Like I said, it's not that bad

Thanks in advance for any offers/leads/information. Heck, even the sarcastic, obviously over-priced suggestions at least give me some fun pics to drool over :grin::p

waiting to hear back from someone this weekend and have one offer that would fit, price is right, just not visually what I'm looking for....so that's a 'maybe, depending on what else I can find' for now

5/16 x 18 flat face joint, butt...must be perfectly straight
linen wrap preferred, but not 100% required.
Visually interesting gets higher priority and could up the price limit...I just don't know exactly what I'm looking for :o
