WTB a few more items for my dream cuebuilding lathe

I have already gotten some great advice here on building my dream cuebuilding lathewith a 48 inch bed big bore headstock , powerfeed, spring loaded carriage and taper bars. Thanks to all who helped with this over the past couple days.

Please advise me if a 1/2 hp Penn State motor is sufficient for such a lathe as described above. If you prefer something else, please let me know why and where to get the motor, thank you.

At this point I only need a few other items:

-Tailstock with drilling tailstock and 1/2 inch drill chuck. The standard Taig tailstock is fine, but anything nicer would definately interest me.

-48 inch Taig bed with full length ( or very close to full, like 45 inch ) rack. Must be in very good condition

-Steady rest, the 25mm 1 inch inside diameter bearing. I prefer that is raised an inch to a 3.25" center. I can put a 1 inch riser under a 2.25' standard height center to get there too.

- lathe maintenence pins I only have a Uniloc QR male +female so I need 5/16-14, 5/16-18, 3/8-10 for starters

-tap holder that can fit into a 1/2 inch drill chuck and any taps you may have at a good price

I will add more items as I think of them, and if you havesomething to sell that you know I'll want, just PM me.
I generally don't haggle much, if it's a good price and I need it, I buy.
I am ready to buy now and looking to have all I need to assembly this within week or two. So please if you have anything above that you are not using in your shop just pm me descriptions and asking prices. Preferrably I could buy most all of this from one or two person to limit shipping.

The 1/2 hp Penn State motor is great for everything except coring. I have been using one for 2 years with no problems.

Get the standard Taig tailstock ... it saves a lot of time and works great.

You don't need a tap holder... the tailstock chuck works just fine.

For power feed, a lead screw like Hightower uses works better than a rack gear.

I have heard all good things about the penn state 1/2 hp. The comments are that control unit is comes with is not perfect, a bit cheap, but their deal with replacement kit is hard to beat at about $115 as i remember, I even found a $10 online coupon. I'll ad a reverse switch and that should do okay. I like the look of it and definately want the motor ounted on the headstock.

I had the pinion drive type feed on a Cuesmith Deluxe and didn't like it. Maybe it was fighting the speed control with the radioshack power supply plug with the settings on the plug. I mounted it overhead so the 12V wire was out of my way. It seemed a bit eradic, maybe my motor wasn't running right somehow. A member here told me about using a tattoo power supply with a variable dial control and readout. I was amazed how many of these are made, hundreds, mostly cheapos around $30. Maybe the pinion type would run better with this, certainly more versatile.

I have a powerfeed screw coming in a purchase I made with the tapering assembly. Just need to design the carriage mount so it can be detached from the leadscrew nut bracket. That way the carriage can freeslide and operate with the knob and pinion like usual. I am considering mounting the carriage on stainless steel Thompson rods for stability. The leadscrew must help stabilize the carriage, especially if if were mounted with a wide bracket on the carriage. Plus the circular bearing ridingon the taper bar opposite of the leadscrew must contribute to stbility

Please post photos of leadscrew powerfeed design you have made. The more I see the better mine will turn out.

Lastly I am curious about adding Derlin slides inside of the carriage for a smoother ride along the bed. I thought I saw someone selling derlin inserts here in a search I did for something else. If anybody added these, please let me know if they are worthwhile.
