WTB: cue tip protectors? What are they called?

I have seen a few TAR videos of Sam's on the Case and some of the players talk about cue tip protectors to keep the chalk from the case walls and hence off the shaft. I tried looking on here for them by various names, "tip protectors", "Cue tip protectors", etc. Maybe I don't know the correct terminology? Maybe nobody makes them for sale and are just made by owners for their own cues? I dunno.

I suspect if it's a commercially available item it can't be too expensive. And a great way to stop the chalk from getting on the shaft when you put the shaft in the case tip-down as I do. And no, I don't want to put them in tip-up. I know that's the easy way, but I am hoping someone out there can give me a link to where I can buy them, or if someone wants to make a few bucks and has them for sale, please let me know. And maybe you can school me on what these things are officially called. :)

tip protectors

I'm not sure where you can get actual tip protectors, but I picked up what i use at the auto parts store. Just ask them to show you their supply of hose caps. There will be some for fuel lines that are rubber, they fit perfectly.

Hope that helps.

Brilliant! Wow - I should have thought of that. Thanks for the help. And cheap enough too.

For any kind of tip cover you have to store the shafts tip up, otherwise you will lose them in the case. Nothing I've tried stays on tight enough to not slide off

Save your money and use a paper towel. I wipe my tips off with one then wipe the butt and shafts down with a microfiber for detailing cars. Case stays clean.

Cue Tip Cover!

I have some left, let me know if you're interested.
Price: $5.00 each shipped. Thanks!

With the ones I bought at the parts store, they fit extremely tight. Tight enough you can store them in your case tip down. The ones I bought are actually rubber caps that fit on a injector pump for a old 350 Chevrolet. Oh yeah, and I paid .10 a piece for them.

Personally I LOVE the shaft sleeves that sometimes come with low deflections shafts like predators and katanas. I WISH someone would start selling them so I could just buy them straight up and not have to try and snake them from friends and my local cue dealer. Can't figure out why everyone else just throws them away.

I just rub the tip on the carpet at the pool hall. It is just chalk after all.

So...you scuff your tip, to take chalk. Then you rub it (burnish it) on the carpet...bet you go through alot of tips!

If you use these, NO chalk in your case, and more importantly...SAVES life in your tips! (no burnish, scuff, burnish, scuff etc...)

I use these as well....

P.S.- why spend the time and money in gas, to look for something like these, when these WORK?!

Maybe 1 a year. More like every 2. Water buffalo tips are pretty cheap. I store my shafts tip up, so I don't always rub it on the carpet. A quick rub on the floor is not going to do anything. I don't scuff my tips, I roll my tapper on the tip, the way it was designed to be used.

Anyway,
Good luck finding your tip covers.
