There's a big pin Tad shaft for sale on eBay now but it doesn't have the stitch ring, just a plain brownish red joint collar, don't know if that helps

Yup, now that makes sense, it sure didn't look like a Tad. Your are right about the shafts. Nobody makes a lower deflection solid maple shaft than Tad. I wonder if its his taper or the wood or what. Another thing, his shafts are always straight no matter how old. WTF?
