I saw the wood closely and it still looks ebony to me.
They do use comppsite wood on my mezz powerbreak wrapless and i cannot see any grains on it andi can see ebony grains on the sp.
I am looking at a new EC-7c because I cant find any used cues. I will have to order the Hybrid pro 2 shaft and a 314-2 in adition to the WD700 that comes with the cue. This will be kind of expensive just to try out the different shafts.

Hi Jeff,
If i were u i would first play with wd700 and if dont like than buy other shafts.I really like the axi models and they play really good,however not easy to get matching shafts.How ever on a united joint u can fit almost all 5x6/14 shafts to it.
There is one guy in singapore selling a mezz zz sp for a good price if u can contact him.
