Try Greg @ billiardwarehouse.com. I've dealt with him on many occasions. Or cuestore.com. That's actually where I purchased that exact cue. It came with a WD700 shaft. I really liked it. Took no time to understand what it's gonna do. I haven't tried their higher end LD type shafts, but the WD700 was plenty cheating. It was a joy to own and win with. And it was semi hard to let it go. The hit is crisp and solid. Almost too solid. After 2-3+ hours of play, my hand would feel warm with a sting. Kinda like just doing the lawn with a weedwacker. Overall, great cue. Probably best bang for buck IMO for a production cue. Balance is a little further back than I like, but not like that of house cues.

I have just purchased the same model few weeks back and cannot explain in words how happy i am with this cue.The wd700 is a very very good shaft.Plays real solid with low deflection.

I bought it from billiardwarehouse and it is called the zz sp model.It is a fulll splice construction.price is 292usd

I think u can buy new one and u wont regret it.:thumbup:

I was hoping to find a used one with a wd700,HP2 and 314-2 shaft.
 
The zzsp is one of the cheapest models Mezz makes.
Chances of finding one with three different shafts are slim if you ask me.
The Mezz cues do play very well and are of top notch construction.
I personally prefer the standard maple shafts, second place is for the WD700.
The cue is not fullspliced btw, the points are inlaid.

Hi Dave,

I respect your opinion, but i looked several times again and very closely.the cue is indeed a fullsplice sneaky pete.There is no joint in the wood anywhere the ebony is one piece.

I am looking at a new EC-7c because I cant find any used cues. I will have to order the Hybrid pro 2 shaft and a 314-2 in adition to the WD700 that comes with the cue. This will be kind of expensive just to try out the different shafts.

Hi Monto,

It is neither full spliced, nor is it ebony.
The butt wood is flat laminated wood and if you look at the cue in strong light you can
see that the inlaid points are round on the bottom, overlapping the butt wood upto about 1/4''.

BTW, I think the AXi and EC7 are the best value series from Mezz.
The EC7 and AXi J and W are my favorites.
The EC7-C is nice too, but I think the price difference is a bit high for the Cocobolo model.

I am with Dave on this one. I have had two of the zz-sp butts and have noticed the same thing. It is well constructed though.

I saw the wood closely and it still looks ebony to me.

They do use comppsite wood on my mezz powerbreak wrapless and i cannot see any grains on it andi can see ebony grains on the sp.

Hi Jeff,
If i were u i would first play with wd700 and if dont like than buy other shafts.I really like the axi models and they play really good,however not easy to get matching shafts.How ever on a united joint u can fit almost all 5x6/14 shafts to it.

There is one guy in singapore selling a mezz zz sp for a good price if u can contact him.

I will post the link soon

you can sell the shafts after you've tried them out. just keep the ones you really like

the WD700 isn't 12.8mm it's closer to 12.5mm
 
Hi Monto,

Not sure if you realise I'm a registered retailer for Mezz cues.
I've had a dozen ZZSP's go thru my hands, I'm not going of what I think or assume.
I am going of facts. The butt is made of laminated composite wood, you can see that here:

The points are inlaid, I don't have a ZZSP in stock right now or I could shoot a few pictures and show you.
If you'd like to make a $50 bet I will order one.

p.s. There are two versions of the WD700 shaft, the older ones are 12.8, the new ones 12.5

I had one of this cue a few years ago.
and YES, what Gr Dave said is right.

It is laminated and not full spliced. However, it is a damned good sneaky. They are few Mezz playing cue that also have laminated butt.

I regretted letting my mezz sneaky go. :o
Mezz also has their united joint for a 314 shaft. Tight fit.

Monto, you should have bought my Exceed when i OFFERED you somewhere last year. :wink:
 
I'm with Dave

The Wood is ebony. The ebony is laminated. The points are inlaid like that of some of the Joss 'sneakies' and Arnot points. Many, if not all now, of Mezz's PB and PB II are laminated butts.

Nonetheless, awesome cue for the money on the ZZSP. It's discontinued, so get them while you can. WD700 married with Kamui II med is a deadly combo.

You may want to try out the new Hybrid Alpha shaft. IMO it is the best performance shaft from Mezz.
