WTB: Milk Duds

Hi, I hope you can help me...I don't have a vice.

I have little experience with making milk duds...I'd like to buy a few from someone who uses them and knows how to make 'em please.

One more thing...if you fit the bill, (besides using Elkmasters) could you also make some from Le Pros please?

I can pay however you like should you be interested.

PS: The shaft diameters are; 13mm (x2), 12.8mm, 12.7mm, 12.5mm, 11.8mm,

Use the search function: go to advance search and search in the Wanted/For sale section for Melk Dud** or Milk Dud**

I know there are a few on here that makes them and sells them. Muellers (www.poolanddarts.com) have them for sell under the name Dudley Tips, you can search the entire forum for dudley as well.

As for making them with Lepro, most all milk duds are made from Elkmasters. If I remember, Lepros are Medium hard tips and Elkmasters are soft tip. After the milk dud process, the elk master turns from a soft tip to a medium hard tip. So if a LePro is medium hard to start out with, after the milk dud process, it would be a "rock hard" tip. Are you planning on using it for J/B purpose if you don't mind me asking? It would be a really hard tip that's all I am saying. The reason milk duds are made is because they want a tip that holds chalk and spin like a soft tip, but also hold the shape and get the speed of a medium hard tip.

Anyhow, I have not heard of Lepro milkduds. Hope this helps.

Pm golfparent liking Working Man said his tips are good. Golfparent also makes them out of triangles so he may be able to do the same with lepro.

The problem about making them with lepros is that they are covered with a protective coating. This coating makes it harder for the tip to absorb the liquid. If the coating was sanded off, then it has a better chance to absorb the solution. The elkmaster on the other hand is softer and has no protective coating, therefore will absorb the milk quicker.
 
You can also contact mike johnson of jensen cues. Not having a vice is easily cured by a run to Lowes. Get the one with the clamp on the bottom. You are sure to have someplace in the house to clamp it to. Then, buy the biggest elkmasters you can, put them in milk, stick em in the micro for about 30 seconds or so, put them in the vice and squeeze to your preference. I found that the less I squeezed, the better the tip. Meaning you don't have to go overboard.
